Kali, Inc. has completed its acquisition of Florida Marine Power Company, a marine mechanical repair, maintenance and engine installation company. Kali acquired all of the outstanding stock of Florida Marine Power in exchange for 4 million shares of Kali's common stock. The transaction also created a performance incentive program for Florida Marine Power to earn additional shares of stock for the next two years if the Company achieves quarter over quarter revenue increases. Global Study into use of Wind, Solar Power on Ships
In co-operation with several shipping companies and technology partners, Eco Marine Power (EMP)has begun a detailed study focused on the practical applications of its patented EnergySail and Aquarius MRE technologies. The study will cover the engineering aspects of installing an EnergySail or Aquarius MRE based solution on a variety of ships and the expected Fuel Oil Consumption (FOC) and CO2 savings that can be achieved in an operational environment. Energy storage options will also be studied including the possible use of fuel cells.
Wärtsilä, Zhuhai Yuchai Agreement
Wärtsilä Corporation and Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group Co Ltd, have jointly signed a licence agreement for the manufacture and sale of Wärtsilä RT-flex low-speed marine diesel engines by Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power in China. The agreement grants Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power the right to manufacture all sizes of Wärtsilä RT-flex modern low-speed engine types at its new factory in Zhuhai City, Guangdong province. However, Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power will focus on engines of 35 to 50 cm cylinder bore. The main attraction of the new licence agreement for Zhuhai Yuchai Marine Power is Wärtsilä's programme of RT-flex engines with common-rail technology.

Caterpillar Marine Systems Doubles Parts Warranty
Caterpillar Marine Power Systems says it has increased the warranty on Cat Brand Parts used in all marine applications from six months to one year. The warranty covers all parts used in Cat marine engines, Cat marine generator sets, Cat branded marine control systems and Cat marine transmissions. The extended coverage applies to all parts sold or utilized in service work on or after June 1, 2012. The suppliers say that there will be no additional cost to customers for this significant extension of warranty protection.
Corvus Energy Joins Aquarius Project
Fukuoka, Japan's Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. announced that Corvus Energy will supply the energy storage component for its patent-pending Aquarius Wind and Solar Power System for ocean-going ships. Since 2010, Eco Marine Power has worked on developing an advanced integrated system of rigid, photovoltaic-equipped sails and energy storage modules to allow ocean-going ships to harness renewable energies and reduce their need for oil. The rigid sails are used for propulsion and are covered in solar panels to capture solar energy. Corvus Energy’s lithium-polymer battery technology will store energy collected by the array of wind and solar panels. The batteries will then be used to power the ship’s operational equipment or, alternatively, be used as a power source when at harbor or at anchor.

Pacific Marine Power Now Offering Volvo Penta Products
Pacific Marine Power is now providing the full range of Volvo Penta diesel and gasoline marine engines, generator sets, and controls to customers throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, the company announced today. The Volvo Penta marine engine lineup includes their Inboard Performance System (IPS) 350 through 1200 propulsion engines, which include forward‐facing, steerable propulsion units. The IPS diesel marine engines can provide up to 900 HP for better acceleration, and they offer 30 percent reduced fuel consumption, 40 percent longer operating range, and 50 percent lower perceived noise and vibration levels. Volvo Penta marine generator sets are powered by the D5 through D16 Series engines, with ratings from 60‐480 kWe.

Caterpillar Powers AIDAblu
As she entered the Hamburg, Germany, harbor on February 9, 2010, AIDA Cruises’s newest addition to the fleet, AIDAblu sailed right past the Caterpillar Marine Power Systems headquarters on the historic Elbe River. The AIDAblu represents the fourth ship in a series of seven AIDA club ships powered by MaK engines. The 827-ft Sphinx-class series cruise ship has a passenger capacity of 2,192 over 14 decks. These 4x MaK 9 M 43 C engines in a diesel-electric configuration will provide 36,000 kW (48,960 bhp) for both main propulsion and electric power to the main switchboard.
Langeland New MD of L-3 Valmarine
L-3 Valmarine appointed Finn Inge Langeland as its managing director. He will report directly to Klaus Lorenz, vice president of European Operations for L-3 Marine & Power Systems. Mr. Langeland succeeds Ingvald Løvdal, who will manage the Marine Navigation division at L-3 Valmarine. Mr. Langeland has more than 15 years of operational management experience in the marine automation market. Prior to joining L-3, he served as the head of hardware and software development at Bjørge Marine Automation.
Wind/Solar Ship Power System Earns Patent

Over the course of the last two years, one of the top priorities for Caterpillar Marine Power Systems has been safety, not only of employees, but also of the customers who operate Cat and MaK marine engines around the world. Internally, Caterpillar facilities are measured monthly by safety metrics recording new injuries, recordable injuries and lost time injuries. By establishing metrics on the production floor and in the office environment, employees have been more aware of eliminating safety hazards to protect themselves and their colleagues.

EMP, AIMS Promote Eco-friendly Shipping
Eco Marine Power (EMP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AIMS Global Engineering (AIMS) ofKuala Terengganu, Malaysia to market and develop renewable energy solutions for shipping. Initially the companies will focus on a project to complete the detailed design of the Medaka eco-commuter ferry with the aim to start marketing this innovative solar-electric urban passenger ferry across the Asia-Pacific Region later this year. The Medakaeco-commuter ferry will incorporate a range of technologies including hybrid marine propulsion, a data management system, Lithium-ion storage modules and a solar array incorporating flexible solar panels.
Sustainable Marine Energy Lab Established in Japan
KEI System Ltd (KEI) and Eco Marine Power (EMP) have jointly established the Aquarius Innovation Lab in Osaka, Japan, which includes an indoor test centre plus an outdoor area for evaluating the performance of hardware such as solar panels, rigid sails & wind power devices. The Aquarius Innovation Lab will conduct research & design plus product development activities related to marine renewable energy systems and fuel saving technologies. Ongoing projects include the development of the Aquarius MRE System and EnergySail, both of which are to be tested in the facility.
Design of Aquarius Solar Power Array Starts
Another step forward in the development of the Aquarius System was made recently when workbegun on the detailed design of the wind and solar sail panel. This panel or rigid sail will beused to harness wind & solar energy which will then be used to help power a ship thereby reducing fuel consumption and the emissions. The rigid sails are being developed by Eco Marine Power in co-operation with a number of development partners. Aquarius MAS with Marine Solar Power Installed on Delos
