Nantucket into Senesco Marine for Fix

Senesco Marine recently spent a little over a month making the ferry Nantucket seaworthy for Martha’s Vineyard Nantucket Steamship Authority in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Marine. Other work performed on the Nantucket involved overhauling the sea valves, installation of new grid coolers and sea chests, modification of the crew quarters and extensive bottom shell plating renewals. Senesco Marine Named RI Manufacturer of the Year

SENESCO Marine Awarded New Contracts

Senesco Marine, headquartered in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, announced today that it has secured two new major repair contracts in what company officials describe as an important milestone to the shipyard’s recently established repair business. The two contracts include the University of Rhode Island’s research vessel the Endeavor and a tug owned by McAllister Towing. Crews at Senesco Marine are performing routine maintenance on the Endeavor, removing the tail shaft for inspection, replacing bearings and sea valves. They are also painting the underbody and hull. “Over the years when the Endeavor needed repair work I’ve had to go to various ports throughout the country,” said Bill Hahn, Marine Superintendent at URI School of Oceanography.

Smith Appointed VP at Senesco Marine

On July 28, 2003, Smith was hired as Vice President of Sales Engineering for Senesco Marine and will work out of the New Orleans office. Smith joins Senesco Marine with over 25 years experience in engineering, estimating, sales and construction of tank barges. Smith leaves his former position at Halter Marine where he worked as Program Manager and Director of Barge Construction. “John’s skills and judgment will be important to us as we build Senesco Marine into the best barge construction and repair company in America,” said Gary Schuler, CEO of Senesco Marine. Smith will help position Senesco Marine as the premiere barge builder in the country. This past year Senesco Marine launched two 80,000-barrell, double-hulled liquid fuel barges and is currently working on a third.

News: SENESCO Marine Gives “Albatross” a Facelift

Most research ships don't live to see there 40's, and to approach 50 is very rare indeed. But the Albatross IV is quite an exception to this rule. Today, thanks to a recent overhaul at SENESCO Marine's (formerly SENESCO) repair facility in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, the vessel is back at its home base in Woods Hole, Mass., preparing to head back out to sea for another 5-7 years of ocean exploration. SENESCO Marine began its a overhaul on the Albatross IV at the company's Quonset Point headquarters in December 2002. Launched in 1962, the Albatross IV is the second oldest in a fleet of 15 research vessels used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

In a move that will change Senesco Marine’s focus and provide continuous work for the next three years, officials at the shipyard announced they have signed a contract with New Jersey based U.S. Shipping, LLC (USSHIPLLC), the largest American Flagged petroleum/chemical carrier in the United States, to build a 140,0000-barrel double-hulled chemical AT/B with tug that can double as a 150,000-barrel double-hulled petroleum AT/B. U.S. Shipping has options for three more 150,000-barrel double-hulled petroleum AT/B’s with Senesco Marine.

The company formally changed its name to Senesco Marine, and to prove that the metamorphosis is much more than skin-deep, has instituted a sweeping new design and build process to enhance the speed with which the company can design, build and deliver barges. Senesco Marine Gets Container Barges Order

Senesco Marine, LLC, a holding of the Reinauer Transportation Company of New York, has been contracted by Covanta 4Recovery, L.P., a subsidiary of Covanta Energy Corporation, to construct six 150 foot container transport barges fitted with cell guides that are designed to carry 48 sealed waste containers each. When completed the barges will service two new marine municipal solid waste (MSW) transfer stations located in Queens and Manhattan, owned by the City of New York and to be operated by the City's Department of Sanitation.

Senesco Marine Expansion Continues

Senesco Marine hired Norman Hodge as Vice President of new construction. Most recently Hodge was General Manager of Conrad's in Orange, Texas. Prior to working for Conrad's he was the Plant Manager at Halter Marine's Gulfport facility in Mississippi. During that time he was in charge of operations at three shipyards with a total of 500 employees. Hodge has been directly involved in the construction of over two thousand barges of various types and design over the years. At Senesco Marine, Hodge will oversee the construction of all new barges. Last year Senesco Marine launched two 80,000-barrel double-hulled liquid fuel barges. This year the shipyard plans to launch two more 80,000-barrel double-hulled barges along with a 100,000-barrel double-hulled barge.

Senesco Marine Lands Barge Contract

Senesco Marine signed a contract to build a 100,000-barrel double-hulled liquid fuel barge for Reinauer Transportation. Over the past year, Senesco Marine has delivered two 80,000-barrel double-hulled barges and is currently working on two more for delivery this year. Both 80,000-barrel barges currently under construction are well ahead of schedule, something Senesco Marine CEO Gary Schuler attributes to the company's new on time design, build and delivery process. Schuler is predicting that the new 100,000-barrel barge will also be completed ahead of the scheduled January 2005 delivery date. "We're very pleased to be working with Senesco Marine on the construction of our new barge," said Chris Reinauer, Manager of New Construction for Reinauer Transportation.

Senesco Wins NY Ferry Terminal Contract

While building 80,000-barrell, double-hulled liquid fuel barges, Senesco Marine is also working on a piece of a major construction project in New York City. The project is the building of the Pier 79 Ferry Terminal. Senesco Marine has been contracted to build three of the main passenger floats for the Pier 79 Terminal. When complete, the passenger floats will be 104 x 35 ft. The construction project is located on West 39th Street, extending 100 ft. into the Hudson River and surrounding the ventilation towers for the Lincoln Tunnel. This new ferry terminal will include six new ferry slips, a passenger waiting area, retail and restaurant space, administrative offices, outdoor recreation areas, and a bus/taxi drop off area.

Durfee Joins Senesco Marine

Senesco Marine hired William K. Durfee as its new Senior Vice President of Procurement and Planning. Durfee brings to Senesco a wealth of experience in the manufacturing industry, both on the technical and managerial levels. Among Durfee’s responsibilities will be to oversee and streamline several of the company’s procedures, including the front end of contracts and the scheduling of construction personnel and projects. Senesco Invests in New Welding System

Senesco Marine Shipyard on the U.S. northeast coast has invested in a more productive and efficient welding system, concluding a deal with Pemamek to deliver a PEMA Welding Portal for the welding of double bottoms and subassemblies. Senesco Marine, a Reinauer Transportation Company, is a shipyard for new construction and vessel repair in the Northeast, consisting of 26 acres of Narragansett Bay waterfront property. To further boost its fabrication capability, Senesco trusted in PEMA’s welding automation technology and made a deal of a twin robot welding gantry.

RTC Acquires Senesco Marine

The North Kingstown-based Senesco Marine, previously known as the Southeastern New England Shipbuilding Corp., has been acquired by Reinauer Transportation Companies LLC, according to a report in the Providence Business News - www.pbn.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The North Kingstown company formally changed its name to Senesco Marine in October 2003, when it also announced it was streamlining its design and construction procedures to speed delivery. It is headquartered in the Quonset Business Park, where it has a fully paved 25-acre new-construction facility, with more than 215,000 feet of covered floor space, and a 6-acre repair facility with a 1,200-foot-long pier in 35 feet of water.

Senesco Delivers Largest Commercial Floating Dry Dock

Senesco Marine of North Kingstown, R.I. launched the largest commercial floating dry dock in the Northeast United States on May 7, 2013. Senesco built the dry dock for Caddell Dry Dock and Repair Co. of Staten Island, N.Y. The dry dock has a lifting capacity of 7,300 LT, is 420 feet long, and has a 100-foot wide open pontoon deck between its 30-foot tall wing walls. JMS Naval Architects (JMS) of Mystic, Conn. designed the dry dock for Caddell to accommodate large tank barges, tugs, workboats and Coast Guard Cutters.

Senesco, Caddell Sign Contract for a Dry Dock

Senesco Marine, North Kingstown Rhode Island has signed a contract for the construction of a 120 x 420-ft., 7300 long ton hauling capacity Dry Dock, with Caddell Dry Dock and Repair Company, Inc., of Staten Island, NY. The announcement was made by Senesco Marine, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Tom Johnson, Vice President Business Development, “We are pleased to announce the contract award by Caddell Dry Docks & Repair Co’s. new dry dock. Steve Kalil, President of Caddell’s stated that after Senesco delivered a new dry dock in July of 2011 it was easy to execute the second new build given the quality and workmanship we experienced throughout the construction.    

Johnson Joins Senesco Marine

Senesco Marine located in North Kingstown, R.I., a part of the Reinauer family of marine companies, principally engaged in the design and construction of state of the art OPA-90 compliant double hull ATB ocean tank barges and the new generation of “Facet” tugs announces that it is bringing on board Tom Johnson who will be responsible for new business development expanding the ship builders services to the commercial market. Johnson is a 1969 graduate of the Texas Maritime Academy holding a B/S in Marine Engineering, US Coast Guard license and commission in the US Navy at the time of graduation. Reinauer Says it Has Acquired Senesco Marine

According to Providence Business News, Senesco Marine has been acquired by Reinauer Transportation Companies LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SENESCO has a fully paved 25-acre new-construction facility, with more than 215,000 feet of covered floor space, and a 6-acre repair facility with a 1,200-foot-long pier in 35 feet of water. Its 3,500-ton floating dry dock is capable of serving vessels up to 350 feet in length and up to 74 feet in the beam. Reinauer Transportation, based in Staten Island, N.Y., and East Boston, began 80 years ago with a single small converted fishing vessel transporting petroleum in New Jersey waters, and has grown to a fleet of more than 75 vessels. The company also owns the Staten Island-based Reicon Group LLC.
