Herbert-ABS Opens Korea Office
Herbert-ABS Software Solutions LLC, a company in marine regulatory, load management, salvage and ship design software, said it has opened an office in Busan to reinforce support for Korean-based shipyards, as well as improve the quality of service to this key market. Herbert-ABS also has an office in Shanghai and earlier this year expanded into Singapore. The Busan office will be led by Arnold (Woo-Sung) Cho, Marketing and Sales Manager, whose primary focus will be to strengthen relationships with the Korean yards. Cho's activities will also consist of representing Herbert-ABS at industry conferences, to include Gastech, 24-27 March in South Korea at stand G360.
ABS and DSME Offer New Sloshing Analysis Methodology for FLNG
(Houston, TX---) Class society ABS and Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) are concluding a one-year joint development program (JDP) examining critical wave conditions for sloshing model tests and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in the cargo tanks of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessels. The results will offer the industry a new methodology to determine critical sloshing conditions more efficiently than in the past and the methodology promises to be valuable in reducing the cost and time duration for sloshing test campaigns.
Grove Appointed ABS Americas President
ABS has named Todd Grove President of its ABS Americas Division effective May 1, 2004. He will replace Robert E. Kramek who, as previously announced, will assume the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of ABS at that time. Grove currently serves as Vice President Western Region, ABS Europe. In his new role he will be located at the Americas’ Division headquarters in Houston, Texas. He will have operational responsibility for all ABS classification activity in North, Central and South America.
