Retlif Expands Solar Testing Capabilities

Independent testing and strategic compliance organization Retlif Testing Laboratories has inaugurated phase one of an expansion program to offer more solar radiation testing, including both heat and photochemical testing, to military and commercial product manufacturers. The first of two planned dedicated Solar Radiation Test Chamber upgrades has been completed at Retlif’s Harleysville, Pa. testing laboratory, with phase two scheduled for third quarter 2018 at Retlif’s Ronkonkoma, N.Y. headquarters.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation awarded a contract to BMT Scientific Marine Services Inc (BMT) to provide an Environmental and Platform Response Monitoring System (EPRMS) and an Independent Remote Monitoring System (IRMS) for the Heidelberg spar in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The EPRMS monitors, logs and displays data in real-time to provide operational support functionality and archives data for assessing the facility’s integrity over time. The EPRMS for Heidelberg is comprised of a computer console, remote sensor packages, data acquisition software and custom operator displays.

BMT to Upgrade MIS/MAS Systems For Shell TLP Fleet

Shell has selected BMT Scientific Marine Services (BMT) to implement the replacement of marine instrumentation and advisory systems (MIS/MAS) across Shell’s Gulf of Mexico tension-leg platform (TLP) fleet. The updated systems will use BMT’s WinMon data acquisition software to implement the MIS functions to monitor, log and display data from the existing suite of sensors. The system performs data quality monitoring and processing and provides storage of measured time series and derived operational information.

FPSO IMMS Order for BMT Scientific Services

Page Europa contracts BMT Scientific Marine Services to provide an Integrated Marine Monitoring System (IMMS) for Floating Production Storage & Offloading vessel. The equipment order is for the new Quad 204 FPSO that will replace BP’s Schiehallion FPSO operating west of the Shetland Islands, off the coast of Scotland. The IMMS will provide real-time data on the local meteorological and oceanographic (MetOcean) environment, FPSO motions, and tanker proximity monitoring. The IMMS also includes a comprehensive structural monitoring system. Monitoring the impact of the MetOcean environment on the motion and structure of FPSOs operating in harsh environments is critical to determine an asset’s integrity and safety.

Forum Subsea Technologies Launches New Tomahawk™ ROV

Forum Subsea Technologies has officially launched Tomahawk, the latest addition to its range of multi-role remote operated vehicles (ROVs). Tomahawk has been built to be fast and agile and it shares the same 35kw power system and thrusters as Forum’s largest electric, the Comanche. It is manufactured by Sub-Atlantic, a product line of Forum Subsea Technologies, at its facility in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Forum’s Sub-Atlantic product range includes the Comanche, Mohican, Super Mohawk, Mohawk, Mojave and Navajo Electric ROV Systems and subCAN high-speed communications data network system. WASSP Multibeam Sonar Aiding in Rena Salvage

A WASSP Multibeam Sonar is being used by hydrographic surveyors at the grounding of the 236m-cargo vessel MV Rena on the Astrolabe Reef off the coast of New Zealand, to locate lost containers. Marine electronics manufacturer WASSP Ltd, a world leader in multibeam sonar technology has provided one of their WASSP sonar systems for the salvage effort. Within 48 hours of the WASSP arriving in Tauranga, it had been used to identify 12 targets, 7 of which were submerged containers…

New Software Enhances Underwater Mapping Ops

Triton Elics International (TEI) announces the release of new versions of its entire line of software products. TEI's seafloor imaging and mapping products continue to be compatible with the latest sensors from all manufacturers including the EdgeTech MPX and the Benthos C3D. The new software also improves on the Interferometric Imaging capabilities available with the Klein 5400. Introduced in this release is TEI's new Survey Planner module. This new product delivers the next level of automation in planning survey lines based on coverage criteria, all with a convenient map-based graphical interface. The Survey Planner is the first in a suite of higher-level planning and monitoring tools that TEI has planned for introduction in 2004.
