MATS, A New Uncrewed Platform for Offshore Wind

Survey, positioning and data management firm UTEC, part of the Acteon Group, is targeting the offshore wind survey and inspection market with a new uncrewed surface vessel (USV).Torsten Marten, lead surveyor, UTEC, outlined the new design at the Marine Autonomous Technology Showcase (MATS), at the National Oceanography Center (NOC) in Southampton, UK, early November.It’s a 12m-long, “DP equivalent” catamaran design, developed to offer a stable platform for survey and inspection operations…

TerraSond Expands in Massachusetts to Support Vineyard Wind 1

TerraSond announced plans to invest in a new base in Massachusetts as part of its commitment to support the Vineyard Wind 1 project and wider US offshore wind developments. The company, which already has facilities in Alaska and Texas, has been confirmed as a preferred supplier for the subsea balance of plant inspection and survey services for the Vineyard Wind 1 wind farm, a joint venture between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. The wind farm will be situated 15 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, and 35 miles from mainland Massachusetts.

LM Handling Installs FPSO

LM Handling, an Acteon company, has provided handling expertise and equipment to support Acteon sister company, InterMoor, in the successful mooring installation of a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) operated Enping 24-2 oilfield in the South China Sea. With LM Handling’s lifting and handling expertise and equipment, a 12-pile anchor mooring system, consisting of three clusters of four mooring lines, was installed. LM Handling provided its StabFrame-S in its extended configuration, pre-loaded with additional ballast to achieve a stable and safe install for the long mooring piles, and 84 and 60 in. internal lift tools.

Claxton Remember Past North Sea Subsea Engineering Feat

Claxton Engineering Services Ltd, a member of the Acteon Group’s risers, conductors and flowlines business, has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its success with the world’s first rigless platform well abandonment operation. In that first rigless abandonment project, at the Perenco Well A1 in the Leman field, southern North Sea, Claxton used a custom conductor reaction recovery system designed and manufactured specifically to interface with the Leman platform and to retrieve and handle well trees and tubulars. Its full casing recovery package was also required.

Acteon Opens New Facility in Singapore

Acteon announced the opening of its new Acteon Singapore Operations Center (ASOC) at the Offshore Marine Center in Singapore’s Tuas industrial area. The Center is the first purpose-built Acteon facility and has been designed to accommodate multiple Acteon operating companies and support their offshore operations throughout Southeast Asia. The 10,000-square-meter portside facility offers Acteon companies both high grade office space and engineering capability in South East Asia.

Acteon Opens Singapore Service Center

A custom-built service center at the new Offshore Marine Center in the Tuas industrial area of Singapore will boost Acteon operations and improve its customer service in Southeast Asia. Acteon Appoints Punnett as President of OIS

Offshore Installation Services (OIS) Ltd., an Acteon company, has appointed Jeremy Punnett to global president. He will be based in Aberdeen, UK, at Acteon’s Tern Place facility. Punnett joins OIS from Bibby Offshore, where he oversaw business planning and strategic development. He will be responsible for continuing the evolution of OIS’s successful project management and specialist installation services. “We are seeing increasing client demand for specialist installation and project management capabilities to support the services of the collective Acteon group companies,” said Bernhard Bruggaier, Acteon executive vice president. “The appointment of Jeremy as president will continue to build OIS’s ability to meet this need.

Claxton to Supply Advanced Norwegian Drilling Riser

Claxton Engineering Services Ltd, an Acteon company, is supplying a Norwegian client with a complete subsea drilling riser package enhanced by services and equipment drawn from around the Acteon Group. The 7000-psi, 24-in. riser will be used to drill one well and two completion wells in 135 m of water: the deepest water in the Norwegian North Sea tackled to date. Comprising riser joints, custom flange connectors, vortex-induced-vibration suppression fairings, a bespoke tension system and a proprietary Claxton NT2 handling tool, the riser system is the result of close collaboration between Claxton and several sister Acteon companies: 2H Offshore, Subsea Riser Products and Pulse Structural Monitoring. Subsea Riser Products is supplying the custom flanges for the riser.
