Baltic Exchange Authorized as Benchmark Administrator in the EU

The Baltic Exchange’s subsidiary, Baltic Exchange Information Services Ltd (BEISL), has been authorized by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a benchmark administrator under EU Benchmark Regulation. Mississippi River Intermodal Terminal Dedicated

The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans joined a host of elected officials and industry partners today to dedicate the Port’s new $25 million Mississippi River Intermodal Terminal. The terminal, made possible by a $16.7 million federal transportation TIGER grant, has a capacity of moving 160,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) per year by rail. “This new terminal provides a highly efficient option for our customers moving cargo via rail,” said Gary LaGrange, Port President and CEO. The Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant provided about 68 percent of the total funding for the terminal.

Thrustmaster Announces Factory Expansion

Thrustmaster of Texas, a manufacturer of commercial marine propulsion products, signed a deal last week to expand its Houston-based production facility by 100,000 sqft (93,000 sq m). Thrustmaster said the multimillion dollar investment has been in the making for two years and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015 by Third Coast General Contractors. Drilling in Safety with AMOS2

BassDrill Management Inc. (an American company formed to design, fabricate & operate safe & efficient drilling equipment) has recently opted to use AMOS2 Enterprise Management Suite software and have SpecTec provide many of the general application activities that might be provided by a typical AMOS Administrator. With their use of AMOS in the office going strong, BassDrill has made the strategic decision to implement AMOS 2 on  tender unit drilling  ‘BassDrill Alpha’ (Classification: ABS +A1 Barge), delivered on January 2010  and currently committed to Perenco. BassDrill Alpha has been working with Perenco in the Republic of Congo since October 2010.

Braemar Shipping Launches Braemar Marine

Braemar Shipping Services plc has launched a new subsidiary called Braemar Marine, which will provide diverse marine surveying and adjusting services to the global maritime, transportation risk and insurance markets. Braemar Marine commenced operations on August 1st, 2009 from its headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., USA, and has established offices in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, Seattle and London to enhance existing group marine surveying and adjusting capabilities in Latin America, Australasia and the Far Fast. The operation is led by John Tirel, Executive Vice President, with the assistance of Chris Lunda, Vice President of Global Development. Both John and Chris are based in Atlanta. John Cole is Director of the London office.

USN Repair Funds Awarded

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $5,818,376 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-05-C-4403) for exercising an option for Program Management Organization (PMO) support for the USS Wasp (LHD-1) FY08 drydocking phased-maintenance availability. The PMO Spec provides the following support: program and production management support, estimating and contract administration services, material services to requisition and coordinate material requirements, technical library services, and provisioning technical documentation. Work will be performed in Portsmouth, Va., and is expected to be completed by Nov. 2008. Contract funds in the amount of $5,818,376 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
