Van Aalst Group Launches Nortek Services AS

MacGregor Acquires Norwegian Offshore Lifting Firm

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, says it has acquired Norwegian privately-owned Deep Water Solutions AS, a company specialising in lifting applications utilising electric multi-drive technology. MacGregor to Deliver Two Arctic Subsea Cranes

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order for two MacGregor active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore cranes from a Turkish shipyard for a new subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) and construction vessel for a Norwegian owner. A 250 and 15-metric-ton MacGregor subsea crane will be installed on the 129-meter vessek. The 250-metric-ton unit will have its winch installed below the working deck and will also feature wire rope integrity software. The order was booked in the third quarter 2013 order intake.

Three MacGregor Offshore Cranes Specified for New DSV

A new dive support vessel (DSV), optimized for operations in the North Sea, will feature three MacGregor offshore cranes, enabling efficient load-handling in the subsea environment. MacGregor, part of Cargotec, secured a new contract for one 120-ton active heave-compensated (AHC) MacGregor offshore crane and two 10-ton offshore cranes from South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). The cranes will be installed on a new 123m specialized dive support vessel being built for U.K.-based Subsea 7, a construction and services contractor for the offshore energy industry. Cargotec Wins €22 Million Order

Cargotec's MacGregor received €22 million order to deliver a 900-ton active heave-compensated (AHC) MacGregor subsea crane to the South Korean shipyard, Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd. The crane will be installed on a 150m multi-purpose offshore construction vessel (MOCV) ordered by Sealion Shipping, on behalf of Toisa Ltd. "This is the largest active heave-compensated MacGregor offshore crane that has been ordered," said Frode Grøvan, Director, Sales and Marketing for Advanced Load Handling. Sealion Shipping, a U.K.-based offshore support company that manages and operates offshore support vessels for Toisa, describes the MOCV as a customised version of an Ulstein Deepwater Enabler design.

MacGregor Receives €37 Million Order from Hornbeck

Cargotec's MacGregor has received €37 million order from Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. to deliver four 250-ton active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea cranes for four multi-purpose supply vessels (MPSV).  The cranes will be delivered between fourth quarter 2014 and third quarter 2015. The order is booked in the second quarter 2013 order intake. "MPSVs are specialized vessels that are principally used to support complex deepwater subsea construction, installation, maintenance, repair and other sophisticated operations," said Frode Grøvan, Sales and Marketing Director for MacGregor Advanced Load Handling.

Cargotec's MacGregor contracted by Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc. to deliver 4 AHC cranes for 4 multi-purpose supply vessels (MPSV). The cranes will be delivered between fourth quarter 2014 and third quarter 2015, and the value of the order is EUR 37-million for the four 250-tonne active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea cranes. MacGregor Offshore Cranes Meet Specialist Operator's Needs

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, secured its third identical offshore crane contract for Volstad Maritime AS series of 125m offshore construction vessels being built by Bergen Group Fosen shipyard in Norway. The order is booked in the first quarter 2013 order intake. Cargotec Receives MacGregor Module Handling Equipment Contract

Cargotec has secured a new contract from an international owner for a comprehensive MacGregor module handling equipment package. The equipment is destined for an offshore vessel and is scheduled for delivery next year. It will be designed, manufactured and tested in Kristiansand, Norway, in accordance with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) rules and regulations. The system is designed to operate in harsh offshore conditions. "Our technology can be used to gain a competitive advantage," says Frode Grovan, Director, Sales and Marketing for Advanced Load Handling. "MacGregor module handling equipment is designed to extend weather windows on board offshore vessels during critical launch and recovery processes.

Kleven Orders 400-tonne MacGregor Crane From Cargotec

Cargotec has secured a substantial new contract from Norwegian company Kleven Maritime. Delivery includes a 400-tonne MacGregor active heave-compensated offshore crane with an outreach of 15m. A second smaller crane, which will have a safe working load of 100-tonnes at 9m outreach, is also included in the contract. The 400-tonne unit will have its winch installed below the working deck. The cranes are scheduled for delivery at the beginning of 2014. This order has been booked to Cargotec's second quarter 2012 order intake.

Cargotec Secures Orders for Offshore Cranes

In March, Cargotec secured new orders for two 100-ton active heave-compensated offshore cranes from the wholly-owned subsidiaries of a Malaysian shipbuilding and vessel chartering group, Coastal Contracts Bhd (together with its subsidiaries "Coastal Group"). The cranes are destined for two 85m newly-built offshore support vessels, currently under construction within the group. "There was strong competition for these new orders," said Frode Grovan, Cargotec Director, Sales and Marketing, Advanced Load Handling. The delivery of the offshore cranes is scheduled within 14 months, and they will be manufactured in China.

New Senior VP for Cargotec's Offshore Business

Pasi Lehtonen has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Cargotec's Offshore business segment, effective from the beginning of January. Lehtonen has worked with Cargotec since 1995, his most recent position being Senior Vice President of Finance for Cargotec's Marine business. He will continue as a member of Marine's management group. In an earlier announcement, Cargotec confirmed the appointment of Tom Svennevig as Vice President for its Offshore segment's advanced load-handling business, and Ilpo Heikkilä as Vice President for its Offshore segment's winch business.

Cargotec appoints Tom Svennevig Vice President for MacGregor advanced load-handling business. Cargotec has appointed Tom Svennevig as Vice President responsible for the company's advanced load-handling business line as of 24 October 2011. Mr Svennevig is experienced in the offshore business, and he joins Cargotec from Aker Pusnes in Norway where he was Vice President, Deck Machinery. Mr Svennevig is based in Kristiansand, Norway, where he also assumes the role of Managing Director of Cargotec Norway AS.

Cargotec wins Award from MHI Shimonoseki Shipyard

Cargotec won the Best Supplier award 2010 from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Shimonoseki shipyard in Japan. It was given to Cargotec’s Offshore business and local Japanese team and, in part, is recognition of the company’s drive to understand future customer needs through the provision of an extensive geographic presence and strong collaboration with customers. “This award is a great acknowledgement from an important customer in the Asian market,” says Edvin TunheimTønnessen, Cargotec contract manager, Advanced Load Handling.

MacGREGOR Expands into Offshore by Acquiring Hydramarine

MacGREGOR has signed an agreement to acquire Hydramarine AS. Hydramarine is based in Norway and is a company in high-end offshore and subsea load handling systems for the offshore vessel industry. MacGREGOR will acquire 90 percent of the company with the remaining shares being owned by employees. The acquisition is subject to competition authority approval. Hydramarine focuses on the development of hydraulic and electrical deck machinery equipment for shipowners, yards and operators. Its key products are large active heave compensated cranes to the offshore industry. It offers a complete range of high-end handling systems such as cranes, davits, winches and subsea load handling solutions. Its products are installed on various kinds of offshore supply vessels and rigs.
