Odfjell Drilling has awarded Kongsberg Maritime the contract to deliver a real-time monitoring and advisory solution to provide operational safety and non-productive time (NPT) improvements for the 6th generation semi-submersible, Deepsea Stavanger. With its most recent acquisition, ABB has further expanded its ABB Ability portfolio of digital products and services with the addition of a new propulsion performance monitoring solution. ABB Turbo Systems Ltd. has signed an agreement to acquire Swiss headquartered Tekomar Group Ltd. ABB said it will further develop Tekomar’s digital solution for engine analytics and advisory systems enabling better performance for marine customers. The transaction is expected to be closed during Q4 2017.

Amarcon, an ABB Group company, today announced that the company will deliver OCTOPUS-Onboard vessel advisory solutions to a total of three vessels owned by Norwegian oil service company OHT AS and Korean heavy cargo transporter DongBang. The information and control system will support the vessels route planning, optimization of speed and insight in critical motions. The repeat order with OHT encompasses OCTOPUS motion monitoring and forecasting for vessel M/V Albatross. Power and automation technology group ABB and software solutions supplier NAPA have signed a cooperation agreement for ship design and operation. The companies will cooperate to offer the NAPA Loading Computer and the electronic NAPA Logbook under ABB’s Vessel Information and Control (VICO) portfolio as part of a complete advisory solution devised to optimize ship efficiency. The NAPA Loading Computer undertakes a wide range of calculations related to hydrostatics, intact stability and ship longitudinal strength.
