MISC Clinches Petrobras Contract

Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, AET Tanker Holdings Sdn Bhd, has been awarded long-term charter contracts for three newbuilding Suezmax DP2 Shuttle Tankers from Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.AET, the petroleum shipping unit of MISC and specializes in the global ocean transport of petroleum, will own and operate the newbuilding Suezmax DP2 Shuttle Tankers for operations in Brazilian and international waters.The estimated contract value is USD525.6million and the charter is expected to commence in 2022, said a release.The new long-term…

MISC Wins $245M Contract in Brazil

Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC) said that its unit  AET Tanker Holdings Sdn Bhd has secured long term contracts for three Suezmax class Dynamic Positioning Shuttle Tankers (DPST) by Brazil Shipping I Ltd for RM1.01 billion (US$245 million).AET will own and operate these newbuilding Suezmax Class DPSTs for operations in international and Brazilian waters. Maersk Tankers Acquires Seven AET Vessels

Product tanker operator Maersk Tankers has now completed its acquisition of seven chemical tanker ships, which the company wil take over from AET Tanker Holdings, a Malaysian-owned global shipping company specializing in the ocean transport of crude oil and refined products.Built in Korea in 2009 and 2010, the second-hand Handy vessels are of shallow drafted design with a good cargo intake and an increased chemical/IMO capability.“In line with our strategic goal of developing a dynamic fleet and our belief in the tanker market, this acquisition will enhance our position in the market,” says Soren C. MISC may Sell AET Tanker Holdings

MISC Bhd  is selling AET Tanker Holdings Sdn Bhd, which owns a fleet of 74 crude oil and product tankers, to US-listed Teekay Tankers Ltd, reports local media. AET is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia's MISC Bhd. and a major global shipowner and operator with a fleet of around 80 tankers including 13 VLCCs, 48 Aframaxes and four Suezmaxes. MISC is a subsidiary of Malaysian energy conglomerate Petronas. “MISC is not in a position to comment on Teekay’s business plans,” the shipping company’s corporate communications arm responded when asked to verify news reported by Oslo-based shipping press Tradewinds. “It is difficult to quantify the disposal gain at this point of time without the actual acquisition price,” Kenanga Research said.

Wärtsilä to Supply FSU, Shuttle Tanker, Inert Gas Systems

Wärtsilä is to supply inert gas systems for a Floating Storage Unit (FSU) on Norway's Heidrun offshore oil & gas field, and for two supporting shuttle tankers. The FSU is owned by Statoil, the Norwegian state owned energy company, and the tankers by AET Tanker Holdings, the Singapore based petroleum transportation company. All three vessels are being built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in South Korea. The Wärtsilä contract with SHI was signed in February 2013. Delivery of the Wärtsilä equipment is scheduled for October, 2013.

Eco-design VLCC Delivered to AET

AET takes delivery of a second 'eco-design' VLCC that is fully compliant with the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention. Named Eagle Varna, this 320,000dwt vessel is fitted with a range of innovative technology that significantly reduces its fuel consumption and associated emissions. In addition, the new vessel is fitted with the Techcross BWM system that disinfects ballast water using electrolysis technology. Enviro innovations include a pre-swirl stator, rudder bulb and propeller boss cap fins. Taken together, these additions produce a tangible reduction in overall fuel use.

Headhunter Installs Sewage Treatment Plant on AET Tankers

Headhunter, Inc. completed installation of the company’s Tidalwave HMX sewage treatment plant on the first of two specially outfitted Aframax tankers owned by AET Tanker Holdings of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The two Aframax tankers have been chartered for 20 years to Marine Well Containment Company of Houston, Texas. The Tidalwave HMX systems are USCG-certified and Bureau Veritas-approved to IMO MEPC 159(55) standards. They can process up to 50,000 gallons (187 cubic meters) per day and use flocculants…
