First of Six New Sun Ferry Vessels Operational

The new passenger fast ferry, Xin Ming Xhu VIII, is now servicing commuters on Hong Kong’s waterways after digital shipbuilder Incat Crowther delivered the first of six new passenger fast ferries to mass transit operator Sun Ferry.Xin Ming Xhu VIII, built by Guangzhou-based shipbuilder AFAI Southern Shipyard, is now in operation on the busy Central Ferry Pier to Mui Wo and Cheung Chau commuter routes in Hong Kong.Capable of transporting up to 500 passengers, the new low-draft vessel features Incat Crowther's latest generation hull form.

Chinese Firm Takes Delivery of Offshore Wind Crew Transfer Vessel

Chinese company Goldsea Marine Offshore Engineering has taken delivery of a new Incat Crowther-designed catamaran crew transfer vessel. The Incat Crowther 32, built by AFAI Southern Shipyard in Guangzhou, has a large cargo zone and a maximum speed of up to 25 knots. The crew transfer vessel will now be put into service transporting up to 12 technicians and six crew to and from Goldsea’s offshore wind assets. "Designed specifically for offshore conditions in China, the vessel offers stability, performance and functionality unmatched by other similar vessels in the region.

MHO's New CTVs Have Zero-emissions Capability

A pair of hybrid crew transfer vessels (CTV) with extensive zero-emission capability have been delivered to service the Hornsea Project 2 offshore wind farm in the U.K. North Sea for Ørsted.The newbuilds, MHO Asgard and MHO Apollo, built by AFAI Southern Shipyard in China, are the third and fourth Incat Crowther-designed vessels for MHO & Co, following on from MHO Esbjerg and MHO Gurli.MHO Asgard and MHO Apollo are powered by an advanced propulsion system that was developed in collaboration with Danfoss and Volvo Penta.

Two New Vessels Launched for Zhuhai Fast Ferry

Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company has taken delivery of two new fast ferries for operations in the Pearl River Delta region.Designed by Incat Crowther and built by AFAI Southern Shipyard, the 140.5-foot newbuilds Xin Hai Yun and Xin Hai Jun were handed over in December 2020.The Incat Crowther 40s are powered by twin MTU 12V2000 M72 main engines, driving Rolls Royce Kamewa S71-4 waterjets. Volvo Penta, Danfoss Editron Power Hybrid CTVs

A pair of hybrid-electric crew transfer vessels (CTV) being built for Danish operator MHO&Co will be powered by propulsion systems manufacturer Volvo Penta and electrification specialist Danfoss Editron.The 35-meter CTVs were designed by MHO&Co in cooperation with Incat Crowther in the U.K. and Australia and are being constructed at the Afai Southern Shipyard in China for delivery in 2021.Volvo Penta marine gensets will help power these vessels – the electric propulsion power for the driveline will come from five variable speed Volvo D8 gensets.

Two New Chinese Fast Ferries Taking Shape

Construction is well progressed on a pair of 40-meter catamaran passenger ferries at AFAI Southern Shipyard, in the Peoples Republic of China, designer Incat Crowther said on Wednesday.To be operated by the Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company, the vessels will form the next generation of sleek, fast, low fuel consumption ferries operating in the Pearl River Delta region.The Incat Crowther-designed vessels will accommodate 199 economy passengers on a single deck with VIP passengers having a dedicated cabin on the upper deck.

Incat Crowther has won the contract for a pair of hybrid catamaran crew transfer vessels, designed together with Danish offshore crew transfer company MHO-Co. Once delivered, the vessels will service an Ørsted wind farm in the North Sea.The Incat Crowther 35s will use modern electric motors to save on weight, space, and emissions for the benefit of the environment as well as fuel economy in the offshore wind industry, Incat Crowther said.The vessels will use a combination of direct drive and electric propulsion for maximum flexibility and significant redundancy, the company said.

Incat Crowther Wins Taiwan Ro-Pax Contract

Incat Crowther will design a 1000-passenger high speed ro-pax ferry to operate between mainland China and Taiwan.To be built by AFAI Southern Shipyard, the Incat Crowther 113 design will be operated by Fujian Strait Shipping Co (CSF) between Pingtan Island and the Taiwanese cities of Taichung, Taipei and Kaohsiung.The high speed ro-pax ferry will have two vehicle decks, capable of carrying 230 cars or 42 containers.The resiliently mounted passenger cabin will have seating for 1000, in a mix of economy and business class.

Rolls-Royce Powers Chinese Fast Ferry

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Afai Southern Shipyard (Panyu Guangzhou) Ltd. to provide power and propulsion for a third Blue Sea Jet, fast ferry for the Zhuhai High-Speed Passenger Ferry Co., Ltd. The catamaran ferry, which will carry 288 passengers between Zhuhai and Hong Kong, will be driven by twin MTU 16V 4000M70 engines powering Rolls-Royce Kamewa S71-4 waterjets. The vessel is the company’s third in a series of Rolls-Royce powered catamarans to be commissioned, the first of which, Hai Qin, was delivered in February 2016.

Fast Ferry Delivered to Zhuhai High Speed Ferry Company

Afai Southern Shipyard (Panyu Guangzhou) Ltd. and CoCo Yachts B.V. announced that the second of the two new fast ferries, Hai Jing, was delivered to Zhuhai High Speed Ferry Company on April 22, 2016. During the sea trials a top speed of 38 knots at full load was measured. According to the builder, special attention has been given to ensure high level of outfitting in the passenger accommodation, both on main and upper deck. Both exterior color design and interior design has been made by Spear Green from Australia.

Chinese Fast Ferry Delivered

Afai Southern Shipyard (Panyu Guangzhou) Ltd. and CoCo Yachts B.V., announced  that the first of the two  fast ferries was delivered to Zhuhai High Speed Ferry Company in late February. The vessel named HAI QIN recorded a top speed of 38.11 knots at full load on sea trials. The second vessel named HAI JING was launched and sea trials have recently been completed, the company reports.. The performance of HAI JING is identical to HAI QIN in achieving a speed of 38 knots at full load and slightly lower noise levels ( 74 dB(a) on main deck and 70 dB(a) on the upper deck).

Cosco Xiamen Orders Aluminum Fast Ferry

CoCo Yachts and AFAI Southern Shipyard Guangzhou Panyu ltd have been awarded a new building contract with Cosco Xiamen for a Coastal Cruiser 322 aluminum fast ferry. The newly built Coastal Cruiser 322 will replace Cosco Xiamen’s current fast ferry with on the passenger service between Xiamen P.R. China and Kinmen Taiwan. The Coastal Cruiser 322 will have feature passenger saloon on main deck with economy seats and a spacious business class and VIP arrangement on the upper deck.

Rolls-Royce to Power Zhuhai Ferries

Rolls-Royce has been selected to supply waterjets and high speed MTU diesel engines to power two new aluminium catamaran fast ferries for Chinese ferry operator Zhuhai High-Speed Passenger Ferry Co Ltd. The ferries will be some of the first to feature the highly efficient Rolls-Royce Steel S71-4 waterjets signifying the company’s growing presence in the marine market of South China. Richard Wang, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President – Commercial Marine, said, “These waterjets are developed specifically to meet the reduced speed requirements of many high-speed ferry operators.

Brazilian Ferry Launched

AFAI Southern Shipyard and CoCo Yachts Holland announced that the first Urban Sprinter 2000, yard number ASA 042, was launched August 14, 2014. The Urban Sprinter 2000 was designed by CoCo Yachts Holland and built by AFAI Southern Shipyard in Guangzhou for SETRANS Rio de Janeiro. The ASA042, temporarily named 01, is the first vessel out of a series of seven. The final name of the vessel will be announced later, after the people of Rio de Janeiro and Niterói have given their suggestions and votes for the names of all vessels.

CoCo Yachts Wins Order for Three Ferries

In the same week of the launching of fast ferry Peng Xing 15, the first Coastal Cruiser 200 designed by CoCo Yachts and built by AFAI Southern Shipyard, Peng Xing ferry company decided to sign the contract for another three Coastal Cruiser 200 fast ferries. The new contract was signed on January 10, 2014 in the main office of the Peng Xing Group. The fast ferries shall be delivered to Peng Xing Ferry company in 2015, and shall be deployed to run services in the Pearl River delta between Shenzhen – Zhuhai – Hong Kong – Macau P.R.

China Shipyard Launches Hi-Speed Ferry for Damen

China's Afai Southern Shipyard says it has launched a 4010 high-speed catamaran ferry for the Damen Group of The Netherlands. The catamaran ferry has an aluminum structure with a length of 39.9m, beam of 10.7m, design draft of 1.72m, and design speed of 35 knots. Afai Southern shipyard says that the launch indicates it has achieved another construction milestone by building this international high-end ferry.

Brazil Orders Seven Ferries for 2014 World Cup, 2016 Olympics

In preparation for the 2014 World Cup, followed by the Olympic Games in 2016, Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil has decided to greatly expand the transport capacity of the Rio de Janeiro – Niterió shipping route. An order has been placed with Afai Southern Shipyard China for the building of seven double-ended aluminum ferries with an LOA of 78 m and a capacity of 2,000 passengers. The ferries will largely supplement the existing fleet. More than 100,000 passengers are transported on this shipping route every day. The ferries have been designed by CoCo Yachts Holland BV in Heukelum.

China Shipyard Delivers Fast Rescue Vessel

Coastal Fast Rescue Vessel “BEI HAI JIU 203” has been delivered by China's Afai Southern Shipyard. The new vessel is for operation by Beihai Rescue Bureau, and its details were not disclosed. Mr. Yang Xiaoren, the Deputy Director General of China Rescue & Salvage Bureau of Ministry of Transport and Mr. Sun Dongsheng, the Vice Chairman of Afai gave speeches separately, Mr. Likai, the Vice Director General of Beihai Rescue Bureau and Mr. Wu Mingyi, the Director of the board and General Manager of Afai on behalf of both sides signed the delivery documents. China Shipyard Gets Rescue Boat Contracts

Afai Southern Shipyard awarded contracts to build 4 coastal fast rescue vessels for a Chinese Government agency. The contracts were signed between Afai and the Salvage Bureau of Ministry of Transport in the South China port city of Guangzhou. Afai has successfully delivered three of this type of coastal fast rescue vessels in the past, and at present three others are presently under construction in the yard. These fast rescue boats are full aluminum wave-piercing catamarans, with an overall length of 49.9m, a beam of 13.1m, and a depth of 4.5m, propelled by twin engines and twin water jets.

China. Shenzhen Pengxing Shipping Co., Ltd. has chosen the Coastal Cruiser 200 design for it’s fuel efficiency in combination with excellent sea keeping performance.
