Mobile Shore-based Power Pilot Announced

Five participants will be taking part in a pilot project in Port of Rotterdam Authority  which will focus on mobile shore-based power solutions for sea-going vessels.The project was established by the municipality of Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the participants in the project are: ENGIE Ventures & Integrated Solutions BV; PON Power & its subsidiaries; Aggreko Benelux; Mobiele Stroom BV and JP Energy Systems.The project will focus on various mobile shore-based power solutions for sea-going vessels, said a press note.Shore-based power has been compulsory for ships docking at Rotterdam’s more than 500 inland berths for years.

Oil Firms Opt for Stability, Urge Scotland to Stay in UK

Reuters - Royal Dutch Shell has become the second energy heavyweight to urge Scotland to stay in the United Kingdom as the campaign for Scottish independence battles mounting opposition from businesses. Shell is a key player in the North Sea oil and gas fields off Scotland and its Chief Executive Ben van Beurden said a vote for independence on Sept. 18 would mean greater uncertainty for the energy industry. Last month, the boss of BP warned Scottish independence could cause "uncertainties" for his company. Other oil companies in the North Sea on Thursday stressed the importance of predictability for their operations, joining a growing number of financial services companies voicing concerns about the impact of independence but avoiding political comment.

RINA Certifies Aggreko Marine Generators

International classification society RINA has certified the power generators which Aggreko provides for temporary marine use. The certification provides ship owners with the assurance that the generators meet all applicable SOLAS rules for temporary use on board a ship. Pino Spadafora, Area Manager, RINA Services, said, “This certification delivers peace of mind for ship owners and ship operators that SOLAS rules are fully checked and complied with by the equipment providers.

Shepherd Non-Executive Dir. Ashtead Tech

Ashtead Technology announced that Derek Shepherd has joined the Board as a non-executive director. Shepherd is a main board director of Aggreko plc.  For the last 10 years, Shepherd has been Managing Director of Aggreko International, one of the key drivers of Aggreko’s recent growth.  Under Shepherd’s leadership, its revenues have grown from $48.8m to $696.7m.  This appointment forms the latest addition to the Board since Ashtead Technology was acquired in June 2008 by Phoenix Equity Partners in a $131.1m MBO.
