FPSO leasing company BW Offshore has signed a short-term extension for its Abo FPSO.The extension was signed with Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd, a subsidiary of the Italian oil firm Eni, and runs until August 14, 2023.BW Offshore has been in talks to divest the FPSO, which is operating at the Abo field offshore Nigeria, and is seen as non-core to its FPSO fleet. Global provider of floating production services to the oil and gas industry BW Offshore has signed an interim extension agreement for Abo FPSO with Nigerian Agip Exploration Ltd, a subsidiary of ENI S.p.A., until 30 April 2018. The short term extension has been agreed to secure operational continuity while joint work is continuing to conclude the negotiations. Two weeks ago, BW Offshore received notice from Petrobras of the exercise of a one-year extension of the contracts relating to the FPSO Cidade de São Mateus. BW Offshore will continue its dialogue with the client towards finalising a firm plan for the FPSO. The FPSO Cidade de São Mateus remains in lay-up. Russian shipbuilder Krasnye Barrikady and Iran's Tasdid Offshore Development Company (TODC)  have signed a deal worth $1 billion to build five offshore drilling rigs for oil and gas exploration in the Persian Gulf, reports Press TV. According to Krasnye Barrikady Shipyard CEO Aleksandr Ilichev cited by the Iranian IRNA news agency, the Russian shipyard could carry out feasibility study for the project. The company has extensive expertise in the area accumulated after implementation of similar projects in other Caspian states, he added. The deal signed with TODC envisages the construction of each drilling rig over two years in the port city of Khorramshahr, TODC Managing Director Ehsanollah Mousavi said.

The construction of M/V Hezekiah and M/V Lady Dora, two 35-meter offshore security patrol vessels, has been completed for an undisclosed client in Lagos, Nigeria. The vessels are designed by Incat Crowther, classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and were constructed by Veecraft Marine in Cape Town, South Africa. The vessels are slated to provide surveillance, intervention and protection to offshore assets of the Nigerian AGIP Exploration (NAE) located in the Gulf of Guinea. The vessels are also capable of providing replenishment of crews, fuel, and potable water to the NAE offshore facilities. Propulsive power for the vessels is supplied by three Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each producing 1,450hp at 2,300 rpm, driving Teinbridge fixed pitch propellers through ZF 3050 gearboxes.

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) announced the start-up of production from the Bonga Phase 3 project. Bonga Phase 3 is an expansion of the Bonga Main development, with peak production expected to be some 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent, Shell said. This will be transported through existing pipelines to the Bonga floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility, which has the capacity to produce more than 200,000 barrels of oil and 150 million standard cubic feet of gas a day.

BW Offshore has signed a Letter of Intent for a two years extension for FPSO Abo with Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited, an affiliate of ENI S.p.A. until Q4 2016, with options for additional seven years (until Q4 2023).

Pirates have launched a spate of attacks in the creeks of Nigeria's oil-producing Niger Delta region since last Thursday, killing three policemen and abducting at least nine people, security officials said. Most of those kidnapped were local workers in Africa's biggest oil industry, where piracy in the surrounding waterways and seas is on the rise again after a brief lull, bucking a global trend that has seen pirate attacks fall elsewhere. In the most recent attack, gunmen on a boat opened fire on police escorting a barge operated by Italian oil company ENI along the Santa Barbara River, killing three policeman. "Sea pirates attacked and killed three of our men. They were escorting an Agip (ENI) barge when they were attacked.

Agip has recently rebranded as Eni, while simultaneously announcing plans to increase penetration of its lubricant brands in North America across all industries. Eni announces that first oil from the giant Kashagan oil field has been produced. The oilfield is located in the North Caspian Sea, approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Atyrau, in Kazakhstan. Eni holds a 16.81% stake in the consortium for the development of Kashagan and through Agip KCO is responsible for developing and start of production of the field. The other partners in the consortium, represented by the operator NCOC (North Caspian Operating Company) which operates within the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement (NCSPSA), are KazMunayGas (16.81%), ExxonMobil (16.81%), Shell (16.81%), Total (16.81%), ConocoPhillips (8.4%) and Inpex (7.56%). In the initial phase output will grow up to 180,000 barrels per day.

BW Offshore has agreed an extension for their FPSO's 'Abo' and ''. Keppel Kazakhstan LLP (Keppel Kazakhstan) and its consortium partner Ersai Caspian Contractor LLC, Kazakhstan (Ersai Caspian Contractor), have secured a contract from Teniz Burgylau LLP (Teniz Burgylau), an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of JSC NC "KazMunayGas" (KazMunayGas) of Kazakhstan, for a KFELS B Class jackup rig worth US$242 million. Scheduled for delivery in 1Q 2015, the jackup rig will be deployed in the Caspian Sea when completed. The work scope of the rig will be shared equally among the two members of the consortium. According to the Oil and Gas Journal dated January 2010, Kazakhstan's proven oil reserves was estimated at 30 billion barrels and its natural gas reserves at 85 trillion cubic feet.

The board of directors of CNOOC Limited announced that Mr. Fu Chengyu, an Executive Director of the Company, will be re-designated as a Non-executive Director of the Company. Mr. Fu remains the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Li Fanrong, a Non-executive Director of the Company, will be re-designated as an Executive Director of the company. Saipem has been awarded new offshore contracts worth over 1 billion euro. The contracts refer to activities to be carried out between 2010 and 2012 in the main offshore areas where Saipem is present, in particular in the Caspian Sea, both in the Kazakh and Azeri sectors, Brazil, the Middle East, West Africa, the North Sea and Mexico. The operations will be performed by Saipem’s most powerful fleet vessels and include the laying of sealines, field development, as well as platform fabrication and installation. Among the major awarded contracts, in Kazakhstan, Saipem has signed an extension of the ‘Kashagan Trunklines’ contract with Agip KCO for the installation of the pipeline system connecting the offshore production facilities.

Cashman Equipment Corporation was awarded a three year contract by AGIP KCO, ERSAI, SAIPEM to provide living accommodations for 580 personnel in the Caspian Sea in the Kashagan field. Cashman Equipment constructed 108 buildings in its yard in Amelia, converted two ex Navy Barges at Conrad in Amelia & Morgan City, and built two new ABS barges at Conrad in Orange, Texas and Amelia, all within a six month period. The barges are now being loaded in Pascagoula, Mississippi at Northrop Grumman’s yard on a submersible ship, the Eagle.

Fred. Olsen Energy ASA has, via its subsidiary, Dolphin Drilling Ltd, received notification of a contract extension from Agip Gas BV for the semi-submersible drilling rig Bredford Dolphin. The rig has been operating offshore Libya since March 2003. The extended contract is on the same terms and conditions as the current contract and includes a rig rate of approximately $64,000 per day. The extension period covers the time to drill one additional well and test and complete five sub sea wells and is expected to keep the rig employed towards the end of second quarter 2004.

The Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) has disbursed $65 million to six coastal states: Alabama, Alaska, California, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. This is the fourteenth installment in a series of annual payments based on 1985 settlement legislation regarding the allocation of royalties, rents and bonuses from certain federal offshore oil and gas leases. The 1978 Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Lands Act Amendments provided for certain coastal states and the federal government to share revenues earned from OCS leases, generally, three to six miles beyond a state's coastal boundary. This area, known as the 8(g) zone, is named after the enabling paragraph of that legislation.

PanCanadian Petroleum Ltd., Canada's No. 2 oil company, could soon be on track to develop an East Coast offshore gas project to rival the huge Sable Island project, its chief executive said. PanCanadian, the oil and gas arm of conglomerate Canadian Pacific Ltd., plans to drill two appraisal wells this year near its recent Deep Panuke gas discoveries, made at the site of the exhausted Copan oil project off Nova Scotia. The wells will give the company the geological data it needs to decide whether to pursue more drilling or full development, PanCanadian CEO David Tuer said. Two recent wells drilled into the gas formation beneath the old oil reservoir tested at more than 50 million cubic feet a day each.

Stolt Offshore S.A. announced the award of the $660 million Sanha Condensate contract from CABGOC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Texaco, to a consortium of Stolt Offshore and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME), of which the Stolt Offshore share is $240 million, $15 million of which is expected to be in 2002. The contract is for an EPIC project for the engineering, fabrication and installation of five offshore platforms with two linking bridges, the modification of three existing platforms and the installation of 100 kms of subsea pipelines ranging in diameter from four to thirty inches, in an average water depth of 100 meters. A substantial part of the platform fabrication work will be undertaken in the Stolt Offshore managed Sonamet yard at Lobito in Angola.

Bouygues Offshore with Italy's Saipem has won a contract for an oilfield development project in Algeria. The contract, worth $128.5 million for Bouygues Offshore, was awarded after a public opening process by the Sonatrach / BHP Billiton partnership on behalf of Sonatrach / BHP Billiton / Agip.
