Search Continues for Missing Army Aviators

Responders are continuing the search for five missing Army aviators from a downed Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter approximately two miles west of Ka'ena Point, Oahu, Wednesday. En route is Coast Guard Cutter Walnut (WLB 205) and crew, a 225-foot buoy tender homeported in Honolulu. None of the aviators have been located yet. Debris has been spotted and recovered near Ka'ena Point by responders. A joint forward incident command post has been established at Hale'iwa Boat Harbor to coordinate search and rescue efforts. Debris from the crash should be considered hazardous material and should only be recovered by recovery teams with the proper training and personal protective equipment. The debris poses potential risk and could cause serious bodily harm due to sharp edges.

Army Helicopter Reported Down in Waters off Oahu

U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army personnel are responding to a report of a downed Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with five crew aboard approximately two miles west of Kaena Point, Oahu, Wednesday. A debris field was spotted near Kaena Point by the Coast Guard Hercules and Army Black Hawk aircrews at 11:28 p.m. Tuesday. Responders are currently searching for the five missing aircrewmen. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Command Center in Honolulu received a call at 10:08 p.m. Tuesday from personnel at Wheeler Army Airfield stating they lost communications with one of their UH-60 Black Hawk aircrews. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of response assets.

3 Divers Rescued near Penguin Bank, Molokai

The Coast Guard rescued three missing divers near Penguin Bank, Molokai, Monday. "The Coast Guard advises all divers to have a dive buoy, signaling device, and reflective equipment,” said Lt. Kevin Edes, command center chief at Sector Honolulu. The divers were located at 4 p.m. six miles from their original location by a Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Honolulu. They brought the divers aboard, confirmed they had no injuries and delivered them to their original vessel. The RB-M crew escorted the recreational vessel safely to Hawaii Kai. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point were also involved in the search.

USCG Rescues 5 Off Oahu

A Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium anchored off Laie Point after becoming disabled has been removed and is being towed to Coast Guard Station Honolulu, yesterday. A RB-M boat crew from Station Honolulu removed the disabled RB-M from its anchorage and towed it to the Coast Guard Cutter Ahi. Ahi is currently towing the RB-M to Station Honolulu. A jet ski crew from Marine Corps Base Hawaii Waterfront Operations assisted in the operation. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point is on-scene acting as a safety observer. The RB-M became stranded after attempting to take the 55-foot disabled sailing vessel Doubloon in tow Tuesday morning. The Doubloon drifted into the surf zone and broke apart in the 8-10 foot seas.

ICTSI Acquires Control of Philippines' Port

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) subsribe to shares giving it a 65% share in Hijo International Port Services Corp. International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), through its wholly- owned subsidiary Abbotsford Holdings, Inc., (AHI), has acquired subscription rights to forty million common shares in Hijo International Port Services, Inc. (HIPS), which is a joint venture company with Hijo Resources Corp. (HRC). This brings AHI’s ownership in HIPS to 162,500,000 shares, which now constitute a controlling 65 precent of the outstanding capital stock of HIPS. HIPS owns the Hijo International Port, a private commercial port in Barangay Madaum, Tagum, Davao del Norte in the Gulf of Davao. The existing port sits within a reclaimed land of about 10.3 hectares.

Chinese Maritime Safety Ship Makes First Ever US Visit

Chinese Maritime Safety Administration ship 'Haixun 31' to be hosted by US 14th Coast Guard District in Honolulu Harbor. The Haixun 31 will be escorted into Aloha Tower is to be met 4, September 2012,  by a parade of ships that will include the Coast Guard Cutter Galveston Island and the Honolulu Fire Department fireboat Moku Ahi. The Coast Guard and Chinese Maritime Safety Administration are scheduled to conduct a joint search and rescue table top exercise and on water exercise in Honolulu.

AHI Opens 30,000 dwt Drydock In UAE

30,000 dwt drydock in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. Said AHI's Chairman, Mr Obaid Ali Al Muhairi, "The opening of the Al Zora Drydock consolidates AHI's position as the premier medium-size shipyard in the Gulf. The demand for the drydock has been encouraging since it commenced operations in mid November 2000. To date, it has docked a total of seven vessels, the largest of which is M.V. Arabella, a 26,000 dwt bulk carrier from Seven Seas Maritime Limited, based in the U.K. Built within a year at an investment of DH. $20 million, the dock is equipped with modern facilities for enhanced operations and improved flexibility. Measuring 175 x 32 m, the drydock has an extra wide beam allowing it to accommodate a wider range of tonnage of up to 30,000 dwt.

Keppel FELS $110M Contract

Keppel FELS Ltd (Keppel FELS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Ltd, has secured a contract to build a KFELS B Class jackup valued at US$110 million for Gulf Drilling International Limited (GDI), Qatar’s first national drilling company. The jackup, GULF-4, well suited in the Arabian Gulf and Indian waters, will be built to Keppel FELS’ proprietary design. It will be capable of operating in 300 feet water depth, drilling down to 30,000 feet and accommodating 110 men.

AHI Starts Work On Drydock

Keppel Corp Ltd. unit Arab Heavy Industries (AHI) has started construction on its first drydock, valued at $19.1 million. "The number of ports in the Arabian Gulf is increasing and with AHI in the heart of United Arab Emirates, the business hub of the Middle East, this strategic investment will position our company as the premiere medium-sized yard in the region," Obaid Ali Al Muhairi, AHI's chairman said. AHI is a joint stock company of the government of Ajman, the Al Futtaim Group, the Keppel Group and other investors.
