Singapore and Rotterdam Port Authorities to Establish Green and Digital Corridor

Allard Castelein (CEO Port of Rotterdam Authority), Ahmed Aboutaleb (Mayor of Rotterdam), S. Iswaran (Minister of Transport and Trade Relations Singapore) and Quah Ley Hoon (CEO Maritime and Port Authority Singapore).

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the world’s longest Green and Digital Corridor to enable low and zero carbon shipping.Signed by Quah Ley Hoon, Chief Executive of MPA, and Allard Castelein, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre on the sidelines of the biennial World Cities Summit, the MoU will bring together stakeholders across the supply chain to realize the first sustainable vessels sailing on the route by 2027.

The new head office of KOTUG SMIT TOWAGE was opened September 23 in Rotterdam by mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb. Rotterdam Mayor to Renew Logistics MOU

Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb will take the 550th anniversary of the Rotterdam philosopher Erasmus’s birth as an occasion to visit Basel. During the Mayor’s visit Rotterdam will renew its existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Swiss city. The municipal representatives will be joined by a large delegation from the Rotterdam port. Erasmus lived in Rotterdam and Basel and died in the latter city in 1536. Since both cities are situated on the Rhine, Rotterdam itself also has close logistics and commercial ties with Basel.

Port of Rotterdam Ties Up with Bank of China

The Bank of China and the Port of Rotterdam Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening relations between China and the Netherlands. Through this Memorandum, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Bank of China, one of the top five state-owned commercial banks, re-affirm their intention to build a long-term alliance. IHC Merwede presents new jubilee book

IHC Merwede has commissioned a prestigious new jubilee book, entitled 70 years IHC Merwede. The first copy of this publication was presented to the mayor of Rotterdam, Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb, at the city’s Maritime Museum. Written by maritime historian Dr Joke Korteweg, this unique and beautifully designed book contains more than 300 pages and approximately 400 photographs. Describing the history of IHC Merwede in several phases, it highlights how the traditional Dutch company has been able to survive challenging circumstances thanks to its commercial and technical innovations. The book also provides an excellent overview of the national and international impact that IHC Merwede has had in political, economic and social spheres.

Imtech Receives the 'Royal' Designation

Mr. Jan Franssen, Queen's Commissioner in the Provence of South Holland, presents the special predicate in Rotterdam.

Imtech N.V. (IM-AE, technical services provider in Europe and on the global marine market) announces that Her Royal Highness the Queen of the Netherlands has decided to grant Imtech N.V. the right to use the designation 'Royal'. This special Predicate is awarded today by Mr. Jan Franssen, Queen's Commissioner in the Provence of South Holland, in the presence of Mr. Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam. Royal Imtech is now a fact. Imtech CEO René van der Bruggen: 'Naturally, we are proud on the fact that we are allowed to call ourselves 'Royal Imtech'.

Evergreen Group Chairman Honored in Rotterdam

Evergreen Group Chairman Dr Y F Chang is honored in Rotterdam with Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Rotterdam, The Netherlands (Aug. 22, 2011)-- Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Chang Yung-Fa was presented the honor of Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his contribution to the port of Rotterdam and the development of Dutch economy. The award was presented on behalf of Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard, the Queen Regnant of the Netherlands, by the Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb at a ceremony held in the Wereldmuseum and witnessed by many local dignitaries. Said Dr. Chang: "Evergreen has enjoyed a successful and professional relationship with the Netherlands for more than three decades.
