Norway's Kongsberg Maritime on Tuesday showcased a new line of offshore ship designs in its UT Design portfolio. Seafast Marine has named its renewables service vessel (RSV) Isle of Jura at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in The Netherlands.Isle of Jura is a newbuild vessel, constructed at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld, and is the second vessel built to a new Damen Renewables Service Vessel design.The RSV, according to Seafast Marine, is for use in the offshore and onshore wind industries. As a business based in Ross-shire in Scotland, Seafast Marine was happy to see it painted in the colors of the country’s Saint Andrew's flag.The Damen RSV 3315, evolved from the Multi Cat, is a powerful multi-purpose working vessel, designed to work in shallow as well as deeper waters. Towage and salvage specialist Multraship says it is continuing to grow its fleet with a number of new additions to its varied range of vessels.On July 7, the 453-gt firefighting tug Multratug 31 was christened at Terneuzen in the Netherlands. Dubai-based Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (GulfNav) is in discussions to acquire a majority stake in Singapore-based Atlantic Navigation Holdings, a provider of offshore marine logistic services. Atlantic is an integrated offshore supply operation engaged in the provisioning of marine logistic services, ship repair, fabrication and other marine services. It operates out of the UAE serving primarily customers in the Middle East and India. Atlantic is an offshore marine logistic services group listed on the Singapore Stock with total assets of $177m. Gulf Navigation is in discussion with major oil companies in the Gulf Region to provide key project solution and offshore services.

Notwithstanding the recent surge in crude oil prices, it isn’t lost on anyone that the offshore oil exploration business is, and has been for some time, in the doldrums. Singapore-listed offshore firm EMAS Offshore Limited wins $32m of new business  has secured new awards and letter of intents for charters amounting to approximately US$32 million, including options. These new charters will see EMAS Offshore’s Anchor Handling Tug (AHT), Anchor Handling Tug and Supply (AHTS) and Platform Supply (PSV) vessels supporting National Oil companies (NOCs), International Oil companies (IOCs) and other offshore contractors on drilling operations and cargo supply runs for offshore oil field projects in their production phases. Concentrated in Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam, these contracts also comprise of awards from the West Africa region.

P&O Maritime has announced the rebranding of its joint venture company Repasa, the Spanish operator of offshore support vessels for the energy industry. P&O Repasa will become the official brand of the joint venture which has expanded its fleet in the offshore towage market from 8 vessels to 14 in the last year while creating a permanent offshore service hub in Equatorial Guinea in West Africa. P&O Repasa has also won a long-term contract with Marathon Oil in the United States to expand its offshore marine services at the Alba Field, Equatorial Guinea. In addition to the existing fleet of 7 tugs deployed at the LNG production facility, P&O Repasa will provide two Fast Support Vessels (FSV’s) to enable crew changes, field supply and platform standby activities..

Voyager Fishing Company, Ltd., based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, has ordered a new trawler/purse seiner, designed by Salt Ship Design in Norway and to be built at Karstensens Skipsværft in Skagen, Denmark. The newbuilding will be powered by a propulsion package comprising a MAN 12V32/44CR main engine, a 4,400-mm ø MAN Alpha VBS 1100 propeller, a two-speed RENK Type RSVL1000 gearbox, and an Alphatronic AT3000 remote control system. Vessel delivery is scheduled for August 2017.

Rotterdam-based dredging and marine contractor Van Oord has recently ordered two trailing-suction hopper dredgers as part of its continuous investment program. The vessels will be constructed at CNN LaNaval Shipyard in Sestao, Spain with delivery dates scheduled for 2017. Each vessel will feature a complete MAN Diesel & Turbo propulsion package with MAN 6L48/60CR engines, RENK gearboxes with PTO, MAN Alpha CP Propeller systems, AHT (Alpha High Thrust) Propeller nozzles and MAN Alpha AT3000 propulsion-control systems.
