Miros Wavex Tapped to Support Saint Brieuc Offshore Wind Project

Miros’ dry-mounted Wavex was selected by EQUANS to collect operation-critical wave and current data on the offshore substation for the Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm, Iberdrola's first large-scale and flagship offshore wind power project in Brittany, France. Rem Offshore's Platform Supply Vessel Hired for Offshore Wind Work

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Rem Offshore has said its platform supply vessel Rem Trader has been awarded a contract in the offshore wind sector.Rem Offshore said in a social media post on Friday that the vessel - delivered in 2012, and formerly known as Brage Trader- had won a campaign contract for 2021 and 2022 with the Dutch offshore services company Van Oord. Under the contract, the platform supplier, which has for years worked in the oil and gas industry, will be deployed at the French offshore wind farm project Saint Brieuc, operated by Iberdrola's subsidiary Ailes Marines.The Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm will be equipped with 62 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, each with an 8 MW capacity, installed in a 75-square-km area.

Bauer Tests Piles for OWF in France

German construction and machinery manufacturing firm Bauer Spezialtiefbau has tested onshore piles at the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project in France to gather data for the design of foundations.The engineering outfit  designed, installed and tested a total of 14 drilled and grouted piles at the Routin Quarry near Cap Fréhel, Brittany, under a contract signed with project developer Ailes Marines last year.“The aim of the onshore tests was to obtain important friction values for the foundation of the planned offshore wind farm,” explained Paul Scheller, head of Underwater Foundations at Bauer Spezialtiefbau.“This will be the first commercial application for this type of piles worldwide.

Offshore Windfarm – France Sets Offshore Industry Going

The French Government has announced its decision to award the Iberdrola-Eole-RES consortium exclusive rights to develop a 500 MW offshore wind project in the area of Saint-Brieuc, off the coast of Brittany. The project is expected to generate some 2,000 jobs and play a key role in developing an offshore wind industry in France. The Saint-Brieuc offshore project covers a total area of 80 km2 and comprises 100 wind turbines of 5 MW capacity each. The offshore wind farm will be built some 20 km off the coast of Saint-Brieuc Bay in the French administrative area of Côtes d'Armor by the consortium led by Iberdrola and Eole- RES and including technology partners Areva, Technip and Neoen Marine.
