Atlas Copco Compressors Provide Air Power for RRS Sir David Attenborough

One of the world's most advanced polar research vessels is equipped with Atlas Copco marine-duty compressors.The RRS Sir David Attenborough, commissioned by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), built by Cammell Laird and operated by British Antarctic Survey, is a research platform engineered to transform how shipborne science is conducted in the Polar Regions. Its commissioning is part of a significant government polar infrastructure investment program designed to keep Britain at the forefront of world-leading research in Antarctica and the Arctic.

GNSS Receiver Integrated with Tethered Aerostat Systems

Septentrio announced that Raven Aerostar, a manufacturer of Lighter-Than-Air (LTA) platforms, integrated Septentrio’s AsteRx2eH, a single-board dual-antenna GPS/GLONASS heading receiver into their tethered aerostat systems. Raven Aerostar recently completed a maritime persistent surveillance solution demonstration, deploying a TIF-25K aerostat system aboard the High-Speed Vessel – SWIFT (HSV-2), during which the AsteRx2eH performed remarkably, the company said. MHI Consolidating and Reorganizing

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. has determined to shift to a new business structure by consolidating and reorganizing its current nine business segments into just four business domains: "Energy & Environment," "Commercial Aviation & Transportation Systems," "Integrated Defense & Space Systems" and "Machinery, Equipment & Systems." The reorganization initiative is intended to leverage commonly shared customers, markets, core technologies and business strategies. Jotron Group Merges All Norwegian Operations

The Jotron Group today announces that it will merge their Norwegian companies; Jotron AS, Jotron Phontech AS and Jotron SatCom AS. The name of the new company will be Jotron AS. Kongsberg Maritime has, as previously announced by the 2 companies in March 2012, already acquired 100% of the shares in Jotron Consultas AS. “This merger and the sales of Jotron Consultas AS, will allow Jotron to fully focus on our core businesses: communication products and systems for maritime, land and air applications.” says Magnus Vold, Managing Director of the “new” Jotron AS, “It will allow us to consolidate our sales, R&D and production resources to expand the business and better serve our customers worldwide.” Jotron AS will after the merger have annual turnover of 305 MNOK and 150 employees.

Beam Granted World’s First Approval for Iridium Extreme Docking Station. Beam Communications Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of World Reach Limited (ASX: WRR), announces it has received certification by Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM) for use of Beam’s LiteDOCK docking station for the Iridium Extreme® satellite phone. Beam is the first manufacturer in the world to receive Iridium’s official certification of a docking unit for the Iridium Extreme handset.
