Hong Kong Halts Ferry Service to China on Virus Fears

Hong Kong has suspended cross-border ferry service to and from mainland China as it seeks to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.All cross-boundary ferry services to and from the China Ferry Terminal and the Tuen Mun Ferry Terminal have been suspended, Hong Kong's government announced on Wednesday,The government said other modes of transport, including rail and airline service, have also been suspended or restricted as part of its plans to reduce the flow of people between the Mainland and Hong Kong.As of Wednesday morningā€¦

Panama Canal Expansion: Unintended Consequences

While airports, ports and GARVEEs are holding steady, according to several new Fitch Ratings reports, increasingly, state and local governments are realizing the benefits of risk transfer, cost certainty and asset preservation through public-private partnerships (P3). For U.S. airports, a renewed economic downturn or airline service shift could result in negative rating actions, while U.S. port ratings could change if the balance of trade is altered after the Panama Canal expansion opens. 'Near-term, the P3 pipeline is expected to grow, both for new project construction and expanded existing projects. Completion risk remains a prominent factor, so more intensive risk analysis is still an important consideration,' said Scott Zuchorski, Senior Director.

Connnexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company, announced an expansion of its service offering to include high speed satellite broadband capability for the maritime industry. "We're actively engaged in discussions with several of the leading maritime operators, as well as potential distributors, and have received a tremendously positive response to our service and the speeds at which we can move data," said Connexion by Boeing President Scott Carson.

Teekay, Boeing To Test High-Speed Internet @ Sea

Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company, and Teekay Shipping Corporation signed an agreement to launch a maritime trial of the Connexion by Boeing service over the North Atlantic beginning in August 2004. "Teekay is a proven leader in the maritime industry and we are thrilled at the opportunity to demonstrate the value that affordable real-time, high-speed connectivity can bring to their operations at sea," said Connexion by Boeing President Scott Carson. "It has been exhilarating to work with the world's leading aviation manufacturer.
