Gerhard Furø Joins Havyard

On 4 August, Gerhard Furø took up the position of Vice President technical and commercial for Havyard Design & Solutions AS. Gerhard Furø has previously been a consultant with Boatlabs AS, where, in recent years, he has been working under a contract with EMAS AMS and engaged in the operation of ships and technical and commercial follow-up of newbuild projects. In Havyard Design & Solutions, he will be working together with sales, design and the project organisation on the delivery of design and equipment packages. Furø's previous experience includes 16 years as project manager, project director and production director at Ulstein Shipyard.

Aker Solutions Sells Remaining Ownership in Lewek Connector

AMC Connector AS, a joint venture between Aker Solutions and Emas Offshore Limited, has agreed to sell subsea construction and cable-lay vessel Lewek Connector (previously called AMC Connector) to Ocean Yield AS. In October 2010, Aker Solutions announced that it would sell its offshore construction and installation subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors to Ezra Holdings Limited (Ezra), which operates in the offshore construction market under the EMAS AMC brand name. As part of this transaction, Ezra agreed to acquire 50 percent of the shares in Lewek Connector's vessel owning company, AMC Connector AS. Aker Solutions Sells Offshore Ship to Ocean Yield

AMC Connector AS, a Aker Solutions & Emas Offshore joint venture, has agreed to sell subsea construction & cable-lay vessel 'Lewek Connector'. In October 2010, Aker Solutions announced that it would sell its offshore construction and installation subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors to Ezra Holdings Limited (Ezra), which operates in the offshore construction market under the EMAS AMC brand name. As part of this transaction, Ezra agreed to acquire 50 percent of the shares in Lewek Connector's vessel owning company, AMC Connector AS. The divestment of Aker Marine Contractors marked the start of a restructuring of Aker Solutions, which has since streamlined the company into becoming a fully-fledged provider of oilfield products, systems and services.

Aker Solutions Reports 4Q 2011 Results

Aker Solutions ASA: Fourth quarter and preliminary annual results 2011. Aker Solutions reported an 18 percent increase in revenues and a solid operating result in the fourth quarter of 2011, reflecting strong market conditions and high activity in the oil and gas industry. Revenues in the fourth quarter of 2011 amounted to NOK 11 600 million, compared with NOK 9 794 million in the same period one year ago. Ezra Names Global Executives

Ezra promotes key executives to anchor Group’s global strategy. Both industry veterans have assumed their new roles from 1 January 2012. Industry veteran Captain Adarash Kumar will become Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Group level to spearhead Ezra‟s burgeoning international operations. He has been with the Group since its listing on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited in 2003, forming part of the core team that has worked to transform Ezra to a leading provider of offshore O&G support services globally that it is today. Captain Kumar, 51, has served in the marine industry for more than 25 years and has been an executive director of Ezra since 24 March 2003.

Aker Solutions Q1 Results 2011

6 May 2011 - Aker Solutions' operating revenues in the first quarter of 2011 were NOK 12 billion, and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation amounted to NOK 1.8 billion, including profit from asset sales and non-recurring items. "The streamlining of our business is nearly complete, and Kvaerner is scheduled to be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in July. Solid first quarter earnings and gains from strategic asset divestments have generated a NOK 1 billion net cash position.

FPSO Installation deal to Aker Solutions

MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd. awarded Aker Solutions' wholly-owned subsidiary Aker Marine Contractors a mooring installation contract for hook-up of the Bourgogne FPSO offshore Angola. Contract value is approximately $30m. MODEC will supply the PSVM FPSO to BP for the oil company's PSVM (Plutão, Saturno, Vênus and Marte) development in Block 31 offshore Angola. The FPSO will be installed in approximately 2 000 meters water depth and have production capacity of 157,000 barrels per day. "This contract represents another significant step forward in our relationship with MODEC," says Erik Wiik, President - Subsea North America, Aker Solutions.

Aker Solutions Power Cable Installation Contract

Aker Solution' marine operations unit has entered into a long-term agreement with ABB regarding installation of power cables and related services. ABB will charter one of Aker Solutions' new vessels for installation campaigns during 2012 and 2013. Aker Solutions estimates that this can generate revenues up to $82.3m. The agreement also includes options for further campaigns in the period 2014 - 2016. Key deliverables from Aker Soutions will in addition to the vessel include project management, engineering and offshore execution. The vessel is a state-of-the-art installation vessel uniquely equipped to install long, heavy power cables and subsea umbilicals. It is one of Aker Solutions' vessels already under construction.

Aker Solutions 3Q Results

Aker decided to change the set-up of the two business and Products & Technologies to reinforce its deepwater position. The changes involve an integration of Aker Marine Contractors and our Well Service and Geo business units into the Subsea business area. In combination with our ownership and cooperation with Aker Oilfield Services, the new structure will also leverage Aker’swell intervention services offering. Until now these business units have been part of the Products & Technologies business area. In addition the drilling riser business will be transferred from Subsea to the Products & Technologies business area. On 22 August Aker Solutions ASA acquired an additional 30 percent of the shares in Aker Marine Contractors from for USD 80.30 million.

Aker Solutions Makes Management Changes

Aker Solutions announced organizational changes in its Subsea and Products & Technologies business areas. It also announced changes in the company's executive management team. The changes involve an integration of Aker Marine Contractors, Aker Well Service and Aker Geo into the Subsea business area. In combination with our ownership and cooperation with Aker Oilfield Services, the new structure will also leverage our well intervention services offering. Until now these business units have been part of the Products & Technologies business area. In addition the drilling riser business will be transferred from Subsea to the Products & Technologies business area to further strengthen our drilling solutions.

Aker Kvaerner Awarded Contract

BP Norway has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for tow and installation of a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO). The FPSO will be installed at the Skarv field in the North Sea. The total contract value is approximately NOK 300 million. The scope of work includes pre-installation of the 15 leg mooring system, tow from South Korea to Norway and transportation and installation of the FPSO. The work will be executed by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, Aker Marine Contractors. The new-built offshore construction vessel BOA SUB C, on long term charter for Aker Marine Contractors, will be used for the mooring pre-installation.

BP, CSO Aker Marine Team For Unique GOM Installation

CSO Aker Marine Contractors, Inc. (CAMC), one of the Houston-based entities of the Coflexip Stena Offshore Group, announced the successful mooring of Diamond Offshore's rig the Ocean Confidence using a preset taut leg mooring with polyester rope and CAMC's SEPLA anchoring system while under contract to BP. The mooring location is in the Gulf of Mexico in 6,385 ft. (1,946 m). The project represents a significant advancement in deepwater mooring. BP, CAMC and Diamond Offshore set several Gulf of Mexico records with this project. The rig is the first MODU in the GOM to use polyester moorings on all 8 legs and the first rig to be moored employing SEPLAs on all 8 legs, a technology developed and patented by CSO Aker.

Aker Kvaerner Gets Contract for DeepStar Study

DeepStar, a group consisting of 10 leading deepwater operators, has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for a study to develop a semisubmersible production platform for use in coming ultra-deepwater field developments. The study was won in competition with a number of deepwater floater expertise contractors, and Aker Kvaerner was awarded the contract based on the company's leading experience with deepwater floaters. DeepStar wants to get a credible solution for future developments in ultra-deep water depths down to 10 000 feet. In addition to the development of the floating platform itself, the scope includes other critical aspects such as design of the risers that will bring the oil and gas from the well to the surface. It also includes installation methods for mooring systems and risers.

Offshore Week

PanCanadian Petroleum Ltd., Canada's No. 2 oil company, could soon be on track to develop an East Coast offshore gas project to rival the huge Sable Island project, its chief executive said. PanCanadian, the oil and gas arm of conglomerate Canadian Pacific Ltd., plans to drill two appraisal wells this year near its recent Deep Panuke gas discoveries, made at the site of the exhausted Copan oil project off Nova Scotia. The wells will give the company the geological data it needs to decide whether to pursue more drilling or full development, PanCanadian CEO David Tuer said. Two recent wells drilled into the gas formation beneath the old oil reservoir tested at more than 50 million cubic feet a day each.

Aker Kvaerner Completes Semisubmersible for Blind Faith Platform

Aker Kvaerner has successfully completed the semisubmersible hull for Chevron's Blind Faith platform. The original engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded to Aker Kvaerner, Inc. by Chevron, with partner Anadarko, in October 2005. The semisubmersible left the Aker Kvaerner Verdal yard in Norway on June 24 and has been transported to a Gulf of Mexico integration yard to be outfitted with the topsides. The Blind Faith platform was the first use of Aker Kvaerner's deep draft semisubmersible (DDS) concept, which was conceived specifically for the application of steel catenary risers in the ultra-deepwater and current-heavy Gulf of Mexico environment.

Aker Kvaerner Secures Another Floater Installation Contract

Atlantia has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for installation of a semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) for the Thunder Hawk development system in the Gulf of Mexico. Atlantia will be the client and owner of the FPU and Murphy Exploration and Production Company will operate the platform. The total contract value for Aker Kvaerner is approximately USD 23 million. Aker Kvaerner Wins Contract

Lundin Netherlands B.V. Succursale de Tunisie awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for marine operations in conjunction with deployment of the FPSO "Ikdam" to the Oudna field offshore Tunisia. The contract value is approximately $14 million. The work will be executed under an alliance agreement with the Aker Kvaerner company, Aker Marine Contractors, and Maersk Supply Service who will provide the installation vessel. The marine operation, including installation of mooring system, flexible risers and umbilicals is planned in June/July 2006 with the hook-up of the "Ikdam" in August 2006. The water depth at the field is about 260 m. The project will commence immediately.

Aker Kvaerner Wins Blind Faith Contract

Chevron with partner Kerr-McGee has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for marine operations for installation of the Blind Faith platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract value is estimated to approximately $35 million. The new contract will be executed by the Aker Kvaerner company Aker Marine Contractors, and includes installation of a mooring system, topside transport, transportation and installation of the Blind Faith semisubmersible platform as well as hook up of the risers of the Aker Kvaerner company. President of Aker Marine Contractors, Torgeir Ramstad comments, "This contract award confirms the competitiveness of Aker Marine Contractors in the deepwater installation market. Aker Kvaerner has already been awarded the contract for delivery of the hull and mooring system.

Aker Kvaerner Contracted for Deepwater Installation

Chevron with partner Kerr-McGee has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for marine operations for installation of the Blind Faith platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The contract value is estimated to approximately $35 million. The new contract will be executed by the Aker Kvaerner company Aker Marine Contractors, and includes installation of a mooring system, topside transport, transportation and installation of the Blind Faith semisubmersible platform as well as hook up of the risers of the Aker Kvaerner company. In October, Aker Kvaerner secured a contract for provision of the hull and mooring system for Blind Faith, in which Aker Marine Contractors plays a key role.

Aker Kvaerner Charters Offshore Construction Vessels

Aker Marine Contractors, part of the Aker Kvaerner group, has entered into an agreement with Taubåtkompaniet AS securing full marketing and operational control over the specialized offshore construction vessels "Boa Deep C" and "Boa Deep C II". The agreement runs for five years with options for extensions up to four more years, and is expected to significantly enhance the company's position in the deep water subsea and floating production markets. The new agreement builds on the positive results achieved following Aker Marine Contractor's introduction of "Boa Deep C" in May 2004 on contracts for Statoil, Woodside and Modec. The vessel has since its introduction seen almost full utilization, and is currently operating in the Gulf of Mexico.

Aker Marine Sets New Mooring Water Depth Record

Aker Marine Contractors, Inc. (AMC), working under contract to Vastar Resources, Inc., recently set a new world water depth record for conventionally-moored drilling rigs using onboard mooring systems. Working in Mississippi Canyon Block 127, AMC secured Diamond Offshore drilling rig Ocean Victory by utilizing the rig's eight drag embedment, high holding power (HHP) anchors in water depths up to 5,800 ft. The rig itself was located in 5,423 ft water depth. The mooring system for Ocean Victory was upgraded in 1997, and the rig has been consistently working in water depths beyond the 3,200 ft mark under exclusive contract to Vastar since that time.

Vessel Deliveries

California Fish & Game recently took delivery of P/V Thresher, a 54 ft. all-aluminum catamaran, designed by Teknicraft of Aukland, New Zealand, and built by Kvichak Marine, of Seattle, Wash. The partially foil-supported catamaran will be stationed in Dana Point as a Fish and Game Marine Enforcement patrol vessel for Southern California. The cat's beam is 20.2 ft., and weighs nearly 28 tons fully loaded. Powered by twin Caterpillar 3196 DITA diesel engines, driving 30 in. stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc MG 5114A gears, Thresher cruises at 26 knots with a top speed of 30 knots. Deck equipment includes an aft deck A-frame to deploy and retrieve a customer-supplied Hurricane inflatable.
