Damen Delivered New Workboat for SAFEEN Group
Damen Shipyards Group has delivered a new Shoalbuster 3209 to SAFEEN Group, a subsidiary of AD Ports Group. The vessel was named Al Mirfa, after a coastal community located in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi, in a ceremony that took place at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem in the Netherlands.The vessel, which will primary be used for buoy maintenance, features a shallow draft, extensive unobstructed deck, a heavy-duty deck crane, waterfall winch and towing pins, stern roller and a FiFi1 fire-fighting system. Additional buoy clamps and chain stoppers have been added.
Abu Dhabi's Mugharraq Port Recognized as International Port Facility
Abu Dhabi's Mugharraq Port has been recognized as an international port facility under the provisions of the International Code for the Security of Ships and of Port Facilities (ISPS Code), AD Ports Group announced on Sunday.The port, located in the Al Dhafra region, can now receive international and local vessels including container feeders, bulk and break-bulk carriers, mobile offshore drilling units, tugboats, chemical tankers, offshore support vessels, passenger ships, and high-speed cargo crafts, AD Ports Group said. ADNOC L&S Acquires Ultramax Bulk Carrier
ADNOC Logistics & Services (L&S), the maritime arm of Abu Dhabi's national oil firm ADNOC, has acquired an Ultramax bulk carrier Al Karama. The purchase follows the acquisition of two Ultramax carriers earlier this year.The Al Karama bulk carrier vessel was built in 2019 and has a deadweight of 64,000 metric tons, ADNOC said. Wintershall Appoints Helge Beuthan to Head ME
Germany's largest crude oil and natural gas producer Wintershall Holding has appointed Helge Beuthan as new general manager of its Middle East division in Abu Dhabi.Beuthan, the current vice president for global subsurface evaluation, would take over the duties of Uwe Salge in Abu Dhabi on February 1, said a press release from the wholly owned subsidiary of BASF.The previous General Manager will return to Wintershall in Kassel, where he will take over Beuthan's area of responsibility.Helge Beuthan has been with Wintershall since 1995 and brings with him extensive E&P experience from various positions, such as the German oil and gas activities in Barnstorf…
Emirates Navy Receives Third New Corvette
The United Arab Emirates Navy has taken delivery of the third Corvette (named 'Al Dhafra') in a series of six ordered from Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Company, reports CanIndia. These warships, part of the largest construction programme in the Middle East, have multi-mission capabilities, including coastal patrol and surveillance, mine detection and avoidance, helicopter operations, as well as anti-air and anti-surface capabilities. The key features of the warships include a stealth-like superstructure, a helicopter landing deck and a hangar.
