A merchant vessel reported it had been hit by a missile and sustained damage 76 nautical miles west of Yemen's Hodeidah, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and the British security firm Ambrey said on Friday."The vessel has sustained some damage. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) organisation said early on Friday that it had received a report that missiles passed near a ship 50 nautical miles (93 km) southwest of al Hudaydah, Yemen."The Master reported two missiles flying over the vessel and heard two loud blasts in the distance," the UKMTO said in an advisory note, referring to the person in command of the ship.It added that the vessel reported no damage and that the crew are reported safe."The vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.

A French warship operating in the Red Sea has shot down two drones that were launched at it from the Yemen coast, the defence ministry said on Sunday.It said the multipurpose frigate Languedoc had intercepted and destroyed a first drone at around 9:30 p.m. local French time on Saturday, and a second one around 11:30 p.m.

An Iranian ship carrying humanitarian aid for war-ravaged Yemenis has arrived in Djibouti. It will be inspected by the United Nations so its cargo can be shipped to conflict-torn Yemen. It now remains to be seen whether the ship will be boarded and inspected before continuing, or whether the Tehran-supplied humanitarian aid will be offloaded. Iran’s Ambassador to Djibouti and Ethiopia Ali Bahraini welcomed the people on board the aid ship, dubbed Nejat (Rescue), upon their arrival in the African country. This is the first Iranian relief cargo for the Yemeni people which has arrived in Djibouti, Bahraini told reporters, adding that the first plane carrying humanitarian aid destined for the crisis-hit Arab country is also scheduled to land in the African country within hours.

The Saudi Arabian-led coalition of anti-Houthi forces attacking Yemen has tightened the blockade on Yemen's ports affecting shipping activity including the delivery and loading of oil and gas shipments. Ships are unlikely to be able to access ports in areas that the coalition deems to be under Houthi rebel control. Navigation in Yemen’s territorial waters has been banned and ships are not allowed into Yemen unless inspected and approval by the Saudi-led coalition forces. The Grace Acacia, a Bahamas-flagged liquefied natural gas tanker, was scheduled to load cargo at the Balhaf LNG terminal on Friday, but the loading has been delayed and the tanker is currently anchored at the Fujairah port in the United Arab Emirates, a trader said.

Due to lack of effective anti-terrorism measures in many Yemeni ports USCG to impose conditions of entry into US waters. The regulations came about following a Coast Guard finding that Yemeni ports do not maintain effective anti-terrorist measures along with an assessment that Yemen presents a significant risk of introducing instruments of terror into maritime commerce. In addition, Yemen's legal regime has deficiencies in the areas of access and cargo control and designated authority oversight, the notice states. It adds that the U.S. government notified Yemen in December of "steps necessary to improve anti-terrorism measures," but hasn't heard back since.
