Nakilat Posts 10.5% Surge in 9 Month's Net Profit

Qatari shipping and maritime company Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) reported a 10.5% year-on-year increase in net profit to QR728mn (USD 200 million) in the first nine months of this year.Nakilat, which has the largest LNG shipping fleet in the world, comprising 69 vessels, said in a press note that its positive financial performance can be primarily attributed to better operational performance in managing its liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vessels.The company also realized higher revenues on additional income from the acquisition of two additional LNG carriers and one Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in 2018…

Nakilat - Keppel Completes First FSRU Project

Qatar-based Shipyard, Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) has recently received its first floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) project at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard.The FSRU owned by Excelerate Energy (USA) will undergo drydocking, maintenance and upgrades at the facility, which is renowned for its expertise in handling gas carriers.During its drydocking, the FSRU will undergo several modifications and retrofitting of new systems, including the installation of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS). Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) held a steel cutting ceremony for a new offshore accommodation platform under construction at the Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar.Chief Executive Officer of Nakilat, Eng. Nakilat Profit Jumps by 8.5%

Nogaholding Secures $741 mln Loan for LNG Terminal

Nogaholding, the investment and business development arm of Bahrain’s National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), recently hosted a dinner to mark the financial close of its LNG Terminal Project with Bahrain LNG WLL, the developer and owner of the first LNG receiving and regasification terminal to be developed on a public–private partnership (PPP) basis in the Middle East. Financial Close for Bahrain LNG Terminal

Bahrain LNG, the developer of the Gulf state’s receiving and regasification terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG), has closed a $741 million syndicated loan for the platform’s construction. The private-public partnership  is being developed to supplement local gas production in Bahrain and ensure capacity to meet peak seasonal gas demand and industrial growth. Financing a project of this size and complexity is a landmark in the regional financial markets. According to the company, nine banks were lending the $741mn it will cost to build the plant and related infrastructure, capable of handling 800 million standard cubic feet per day when complete in 2019. The project includes a nitrogen facility, to lower the calorific value of imports as needed.

Five Vessels Delivered for Qatar’s New Port Project

Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has delivered five vessels as part of an 11-vessel order for New Port Project (NPP). Built entirely at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City, the vessels were launched and delivered to NPP after successful completion of their sea trials. Measuring 15.4 meters long with a beam of 5 meters and a speed of 25 knots, the two Damen Stan Pilot 1505 pilot boats Um Alhoul 1 and Um Alhoul 2 will be used to carry out pilot duties and the transportation of personnel.

N-KOM delivers First Newbuild Liftboat

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) reports that it has delivered its first liftboat unit, Al Safliya, to Qatari rig operator Gulf Drilling International (GDI). Al Safliya is the first liftboat to be wholly constructed in Qatar at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma shipyard The self-propelled and elevating unit has been customized for operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in water depths of up to 65m. “GDI is pleased with the quality delivered by N-KOM for the liftboat Al Safliya," said Mubarak Al Hajri, the MD & CEO of GDI.

N-KOM, Angelicoussis Extend Cooperation

Nakilat - Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), the joint-venture shipyard between Qatar’s Nakilat and Keppel Offshore & Marine, has signed a landmark agreement with the Angelicoussis Group of Companies to be the preferred shipyard for ship repairs in the Middle East. Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar JV is 5

On 23 November 2015, Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar celebrated its first 5 years of operation. With 40 vessels delivered or under construction, the yard has proven its capability to support Qatar’s national strategy for economic diversification. Damen Chief Commercial Officer Arnout Damen. NDSQ was established in 2010 as a joint venture between Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd. (Nakilat) and Damen Shipyards Group. Located in the northeastern corner of Qatar, the yard is ideally positioned in the middle of the Arabian Gulf and able to build ships up to 170 metres in length in steel, aluminium and composites. By building these vessels in Qatar, Mr Damen says that NDSQ is supporting the economic diversification and development strategy in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

World’s First MAN B&W ME-GI Enters Service

Nakilat, in association with Qatari LNG producers Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited and engine manufacturer MAN Diesel & Turbo, recently celebrated the success of the ME-GI project involving the retrofit of chartered Q-Max vessel, Rasheeda, with a gas-burning M-Type Electronically Controlled – Gas Injection (ME-GI) System, which has now been successfully commissioned. The Qatari-owned Q-Max vessel is the world’s first low-speed marine diesel engine to be converted to use LNG as a fuel. The retrofit modification meets the current known and future stated global emissions regulations. Nakilat’s Rasheeda built in 2010 is a 266,000 m3 LNG carrier with two MAN B&W S70ME-C HFO-burning engines, which have been converted to the dual-fuel ME-GI concept.

Nakilat H1 Profit Up 10 pct

Qatar Gas Transport Co (Nakilat), one of the world's largest shippers of liquefied natural gas, has registered a half yearly net profit of $135 million (QR490.2mn), up 10% on the same period last year. The healthy financial results reflect “Nakilat’s strategic development, the success of its joint ventures, and the company’s resilience in the challenging economic climate”, the company announced. The Board of Directors, whose chairman is the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, stated that Nakilat was in an “excellent position to face the current economic situation”, as the company’s ships are on long-term charter hire contracts that are not impacted by temporary fluctuations in oil prices.

GDI Awards N-KOM US$110-M Contracts

Gulf Drilling International (GDI) Limited, a subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS), the largest oilfield service company in Qatar, has awarded two contracts worth US110 million to Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), a joint venture shipyard between Nakilat and Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M). The first contract is for the construction of a self-propelled and self-elevating liftboat, which is customised for field transit operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in water depths of up to 65 meters. When completed at the end of 2015, the liftboat will provide accommodation and platform support services for a customer with operations in Qatar.

NDSQ Lays Keels for Two Stan Tugs

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has laid the keels for two 16m-long Stan Tugs, part of a seven-vessel order for marine services provider Nakilat Svitzer Wijsmuller (NSW). A small ceremony to mark this important step in the shipbuilding process was held at NDSQ’s facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Qatar’s Port of RasLaffan. The two twin-screw Stan Tugs have a bollard pull of 15 tons and will be used for mooring vessels visiting the Port of RasLaffan.

Qatar Champions LNG as Cleaner Marine Fuel

Nakilat, Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited will convert a Q-Max vessel as a pilot project making it capable of running on LNG and reducing the ship’s exhaust gas and greenhouse gas emissions. Qatari shipping company Nakilat and Qatari LNG producers Qatargas and RasGas Company Limited have agreed with engine manufacturer MAN Diesel and Turbo to convert a Q-Max vessel to use LNG as an alternative to heavy fuel oil in the main engines. The proactive initiative reinforces Qatar’s commitment toward the environment with plans to convert an existing low-speed diesel LNG carrier to use LNG as fuel thereby reducing the ship’s exhaust gas emissions.

Qatari Shipyard Delivers Tugboat in Large Milaha Contract

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) say they have delivered to Milaha the 32m-long tug 'Semesma', the eleventh vessel built in the State of Qatar by NDSQ to be utilized by Milaha at the Port of Mesaieed. Nakilat to Build 11 Tugs for New Doha Port

Qatar’s New Port Project (NPP) has signed an agreement with Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) to construct 11 workboats for use at the port. HE Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and HE Mr. Jassim Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, witnessed the signing ceremony between NDSQ and NPP, on Wednesday, 17th December 2014. The contracts were signed by Eng. Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, Chairman of NDSQ and Managing Director of Nakilat, and Capt. Abdulla Al-Khanji CEO Qatar Ports Management Company & NPP General Supervisor. NDSQ will build four 29m-long Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tug boats, three 16m-long mooring boats and four15m-long glass reinforced plastic (GRP) pilot boats.
