Northrop Grumman Appoint MD for Sperry Marine Business

Jeanne Usher has been named managing director of the Sperry Marine business unit, effective immediately inform Northrop Grumman Corporation. Usher succeeds Alan Dix, who recently retired following a distinguished career with the company spanning 33 years. In her new position, Usher will have responsibility for all Sperry Marine's commercial and defence programmes and products worldwide. Northrop Grumman Introduces New ECDIS-E

Northrop Grumman Corporation is introducing the VisionMaster FT Electronic Chart Display and Information System-E (ECDIS-E), a new cost-effective navigation solution for commercial tankers, container ships, bulk carries and passenger ferries including retrofit installations. Based on the Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine VisionMaster FT platform, the new ECDIS-E combines an optimized feature set with easy to install hardware. The system meets International Maritime Organization requirements for certain classes of vessels operating internationally to be equipped with ECDIS for paperless navigation. "This new design not only meets mandatory safety requirements, but brings new technology to the user," said Alan Dix, managing director, Sperry Marine.

Northrop Grumman Upgrades Navigation Equipment on Stena Line Ferries

Northrop Grumman Corporation has completed an integrated bridge system retrofit for several RoPax ferries operated by Stena Line. Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit provided a fully networked suite of scalable navigation products  from the VisionMaster FT  series, used to form the core of a ship's integrated bridge. The Stena Superfast VII and Stena Superfast VIII vessels were upgraded with VisionMaster FT navigation radars, a voyage data recorder, and an electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) that provides full control on both bridge wings.

Northrop Grumman Upgrades Arklow Shipping ECDIS Systems

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been selected by Arklow Shipping to upgrade 12 container vessels with VisionMaster FT Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems (ECDIS). Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit will install all of the systems by the end of 2014. The VisionMaster FT ECDIS will replace existing NaviECDIS that utilises the Voyage Management System supplied by Sperry Marine. Northrop Grumman Corporation to supply advanced shipboard navigation systems for 20 fast patrol vessels for the Indian Coast Guard. Under the contract, awarded through the company's Indian reseller Marine Electricals Ltd., Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit will provide a navigation package including VisionMaster™ Total Watch™ multifunction displays, electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS), autopilot, magnetic compass and the new NAVIGAT 3000™ fibre optic gyrocompass.

Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine New Product Briefing

The company's business unit will brief on its capabilities in marine navigation & bridge control systems at upcoming SMM 2012, Hamburg. Alan Dix, managing director of Sperry Marine, will speak about the company's new products and future offerings.
