Retrofitted Pair to Be First Tier III Tugs in Italian Ports

Sanmar Shipyards said it has signed a contract to deliver two cleaner and greener versions of its Bogacay series of tugs to Sicily-based operator Rimorchiatori Augusta Srl. BOGACAY LII and BOGACY LIV have been refurbished and their propulsion systems upgraded using the latest technology to make them IMO Tier III emissions compliant. They will be delivered to Augusta Port in Sicily towards the end of 2022.The 24.4m x 12m x 5.45m sister tugs will be powered by two Caterpillar CAT 3512E C rating main engines…

Sanmar Sells Delicay VI to Rimorchiatori

Rimorchiatori Riuniti has has acquired an azimuth tractor tug from Sanmar Shipyards to boost its operations in the port of Genoa, ItalyThe 25-m tug was upgraded, renamed Italia and deployed to provide towage services in Genoa.Sanmar had delivered a RAmparts 2400SX Class ASD Tug to the Genoese group back in 2014 and that tug has been re-named as Turchia which is currently giving towage service in the port of Genoa.Italia is an azimuth tractor tug, TRAktor-Z 2500SX designed by the distinguished Canadian designers “Robert Allan Ltd.” Principal dimensions are 25m by 12m and she can achieve 70 tonnes of bollard pull by means of 2 x CAT 3516C…

Rimorchiatori Riuniti Orders Damen Tug

Leading Italian tug operator RimorchiatoriRiuniti has ordered a Damen ASD Tug 2411.Reflecting the industry’s move to larger vessels, the new Damen tug, which has a 70-metric-ton bollard pull, will replace a smaller 40-metric-ton unit built in 1990. The new vessel will be deployed in Genoa and is expected to arrive by end-July.
