Hutton's Lauches New Website

Hutton’s Group has launched a new website to provide up to date and easily accessible information to its customers throughout the world. The new website – www.huttons-group.com – provides comprehensive information on the products and services provided by the worldwide network of Hutton’s Group depots. Customers accessing the website also have the opportunity to browse the comprehensive Hutton’s catalogue online, viewing and turning pages at the click of a mouse. The new website will keep customers up to date with the latest news and special offers from Hutton’s Group.

Hutton's Opens Equatorial Guinea Supply Base

As part of its continued supply network growth in West Africa, Hutton’s Group has opened a new facility in Equatorial Guinea to boost its supply chain in the region. Operating as part of Hutton’s Remote Site Services, the new base in Luba Freeport will enhance the successful supply solutions already being delivered by Hutton’s West Africa depots in Ghana and Ivory Coast. As the only ship supplier based within Luba Freeport, Hutton’s has the unique advantage of offering tax free provisions, consumables, logistics and stores handling within the West Africa region.

Hutton's Group Strengthens Aberdeen Ship Service Team

Leading ship supplier Hutton’s Group says it has strengthened its Aberdeen logistics team with the appointment of a new Branch Manager, Kirstene Wilson, who starts work at the firm’s Sinclair Road depot, having completed a week’s induction training at Hutton’s head office in Hull. Hutton’s Managing Director Alex Taylor said: “I am pleased to welcome Kirstene to the Hutton’s Group and believe her knowledge of the Aberdeen shipping sector will be a great asset to our busy branch, which specialises particularly in supplying the growing offshore industry.” The Company adds that Ms Wilson brings to her new role years of experience in both the retail, wholesale and logistics sectors, having worked previously for Makro and Strachan’s.

Bottled Water Sales to Shippers on the Rise

Hutton’s Group, a ship supplier in the U.K., reported sales of bottled water are up 30% on last year’s figures. The Hull-based supplier to the international shipping industry said it sold almost 40,000 large bottles of still water and nearly 20,000 small bottles this January alone, with sales of sparkling water (particularly popular with eastern European customers) growing too. Port Restrictions and High Barge Charges: Causing Costs to Spiral

Port delivery restrictions to ships are forcing ship suppliers to use barges for the supply of ship stores – resulting in hundreds of pounds of increased logistic costs, warns the UK’s leading ships chandler Hutton’s. Restrictions are enforced for a number of reasons, including security, safety and weight limits. Meanwhile barge costs are rising with the charges becoming prohibitive at some ports. Hutton’s warns the problem is an issue worldwide and especially prevalent on continental Europe where barge supply has become commonplace.

David Greenwood brings to Hutton’s a wealth of experience having been responsible for running international logistics and supply operations for almost 20 years. Hutton's Moves to New Headquarters

Hutton's, a UK-based ship supplier, has moved into a large new head office and warehouse facility to accommodate the company's growing business. Located in Witty Street, Hull, the new double-sized unit is called Dianthus House and has access straight onto the A63 and national motorway network, along with being strategically located for access to Europe overnight via the Hull to Rotterdam ferry. The large new facility provides increased storage, warehousing and logistics facilities along with larger administration offices. Watch Your Weight at Sea Warns Hutton’s Medical

Modern seafarers should keep an eye on their weight as well as the horizon to avoid storing up health problems, advised Hutton’s, UK ship supplier which is calling for seafarers to make a conscious effort to switch to a healthier diet. “Seafarers can easily become overweight if they load up on calories to get through long working shift patterns,” said John MacDonald, General Manager of Hutton’s Medical. “They just load up with calories to get them through the day but that doesn’t do your body any good at all. John said it’s not just ship owners and managers who need to change their attitudes to crew health by purchasing healthier foods, but individual seafarers themselves who can take more responsibility for their own health and diet.

Hutton’s Opens Largest UK Depot

Britain’s leading ship supplier, Hutton’s, has responded to growing demand from the offshore oil and gas sectors by opening its biggest UK depot in Aberdeen. Hutton’s, which recently announced record sales figures, moved into the 13,000 sq ft (1300sq m) depot from a smaller 5,000 sq ft warehouse a month ago. Hutton’s need for expansion is a result of increased business from the offshore industry. The new facility is located near Aberdeen harbour and provides Hutton’s with considerably increased capacity. In addition, the depot provides modern office space with up-to-date IT systems and hi-tech meeting facilities. Leased from the Harbour Board the unit is recently refurbished and houses 350 cu m of chilled and frozen freezer facilities and 382 ambient pallet places.

SSY Establishes Finance Division

The partners of SSY announced the formation of SSY Capital LLC to serve global shipowners in the capital markets. The new unit will be led by Tom Kane, a leading American finance expert with particular expertise in international finance. SSY Capital will offer financial products tailored to its clients’ needs. Several products will be available to clients, including project and asset finance facilities, a variety of lease and debt financing structures, as well as non-traditional forms and capital sources. SSY recently celebrated its 125th anniversary. In the last 20 years, SSY has expanded its traditional broking expertise to include maritime consultancy and research, gas, chemicals, containers and freight derivatives.
