Crounse Takes Delivery of New Towboat from Conrad

Paducah, Ky. headquartered Crounse Corporation announced it has taken delivery of a new 6,034-horsepower towboat built by Conrad Shipyard, based in Morgan City, La.The 166- by 48- by 12-foot Alice is named after the company’s first vessel that began operating in 1949. Titan Charters LNG Bunker Vessel from Fratelli Cosulich

Clean fuels supplier Titan announced it has signed a long-term time charter agreement with Italian maritime transportation group Fratelli Cosulich for the new 8,200Cbm capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker vessel Alice Cosulich.Alice Cosulich will join Titan's fleet in the fourth quarter of this year and will operate in Europe. First LNG Bunker Ship Launched in China for Fratelli Cosulich Group

Alice Cosulich, the first of two Small Scale & Bunker Vessels for Fratelli Cosulich Group was recently christened and luanced at the CIMC SOE shipyard in China.Giulia Cosulich, ESG Corporate Director at Fratelli Cosulich Group, acted as the godmother of the vessel.Alice Cosulich and will sail under the Italian flag with Captain Vincenzo Scotto at the helm.The vessel, which has a 5,300 DWT and can carry 8,200 m3 of LNG and 500 m3 of MGO, will be fitted with Wartsila’s Dual Fuel technology.

Oldendorff Inks Deal with Yara for Scrubbers

StealthGas Adds Vessels, Wins Charters

StealthGas Inc, the world's largest owner of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pressurized carriers in the strategic 3,000-8,000cbm segment,  has expanding its fleet with two acquisitions. The company has also made six  chartering arrangements.The Greek shipping transportation company announced that it has entered into a new LPG sub segment through the acquisition of a secondhand (2007 built) 38,000 cbm fully refrigerated vessel. This vessel was acquired with its JV partner.The company also  announced its entrance into a second new LPG sub segment, through an acquisition - from a third party -  of an 11,000 cbm pressurized newbuilding LPG vessel with delivery in 2021.

Algoma Expands Ocean Self-Unloader Pool

Oldendorff Sells Three Vessels in in CSL Pool to Algoma

Interlake Charters Barge for Great Lakes Service

Ohio-based shipping firm the Interlake Steamship Company announced it will time charter a 418-foot, 14,400-short-ton capacity dry cargo barge from the U.S. East Coast to operate on the Great Lakes starting this spring.The single-hold covered hopper barge Montville, owned and operated by Connecticut-based towing services provider Moran Towing Corp, will be under charter through 2019 with options to extend.The time charter deal marks a first for Great Lakes carrier Interlake, whose owned fleet includes nine self-unloading vessels ranging in carrying capacity from 24,000 to 68,000 gross tons.

Eastern Launches Towboat for IWL River

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has launched the Impala Mompox (Hull #245) on October 24, 2016. This is the third in a series of four Inland River Towboats for IWL River, Inc. This series of CT Marine designed 134 ft. ABS Classed Inland River Service towboats are Triple Screw with a Retractable Pilothouse and all are currently under construction at Eastern’s Allanton facility. The vessel deliveries are scheduled to start in late 2016 and continue into 2017. The launch was hosted by Eastern's Project Manager Joe Stark.

Largest-ever Diesel Cargo Heads to Europe

Europe is expected to receive its largest-ever diesel cargo after French refiner Total booked a super tanker to sail to the region even as it faces brimming storage tanks and wilting demand. Total has chartered the newly-built very large crude carrier (VLCC) tanker Alice to ship 270,000 tonnes of diesel, three times the typical cargo size on the route, from Asia to the port of Antwerp in Belgium, according to shipping data and Reuters ship tracking. VLCC's Used for Asia-Europe Diesel Liftings

Total charters VLCC to move diesel from Asia to Europe; Vitol ships diesel from Asia to Europe in Suezmax. At least two companies are planning to ship diesel in bigger-than-usual tankers from Asia to Europe in what traders said is a rare move as cheap oil drives up diesel supply and slowing economies dent demand. French oil major Total has provisionally chartered the very large crude carrier (VLCC) Alice on a six-month time charter to ship ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) from Asia to Europe, traders and shipbrokers said. A VLCC can carry roughly 2 million barrels of oil. The ship will load diesel from Singapore or Malaysia to head to Europe and possibly ship crude oil back, one of the sources said.

Sailor Medevaced from Bulker off Cape Cod

U.S. Coast Guard air crews medevac Ukrainian from bulk carrier 130 miles east of Cape Cod, Mass. A Ukrainian sailor in distress was medically evacuated by U.S. Coast Guard Crews Monday, 130 miles east of Cape Cod, Mass. Watchstanders at the 1st Coast Guard District Command Center received a medevac request from the motor vessel Alice Oldendorff stating a 28-year-old man was suffering stomach pains. After a conference call with a flight surgeon, the operator of the vessel, and the search and rescue mission coordinator, a medevac was recommended within a 12-hour window. The operator was instructed to change course and make best speed towards Cape Cod to decrease the time it would take to get the man medical care. Crews aboard an HC-144a Casa and a MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter responded to help.

The Port of Portland Commission today welcomed new commissioners Alice Cuprill-Comas and Gary Young. Both were earlier nominated by Gov. Kate Brown and confirmed the Oregon State Senate. Cuprill-Comas of Portland is a transactional lawyer, and is currently legal counsel at Oregon Health & Science University. A member of the Oregon, Washington and Texas State bars, she was in private practice for more than 15 years, most recently as a partner at Ater, Wynne, LLC in Portland. Eleven Missing After Hong Kong Collision

Eleven crew of a Chinese cargo ship are missing following a collision with a large container ship in the waters off Hong Kong on Monday, authorities said. Hong Kong is one of the world's busiest shipping channels, although serious accidents are rare. The cargo ship Zhong Xing 2 sank after the collision with the 300-m- (984-ft-) long Marshall Islands-registered MOL Motivator about two nautical miles southwest of Po Toi Island, a spokeswoman of the Hong Kong Maritime Department said. "Zhong Xing 2 is suspected to have sunk after the collision, and it is reported there are 12 crew onboard," said the spokeswoman, who declined to be identified in line with department policy. "One of them was picked up by a fishing vessel navigating close by," she added.

Asia Distillates: Gasoil Firms as Vitol, Glencore Buy

Asia's cash premium for benchmark 500ppm gasoil stayed firm on Friday as a buying spree in the Singapore cash market continued with a total of 10 deals for 500ppm gasoil, with Vitol and Glencore buying most of the cargoes. Buying interest in the Singapore cash market would likely continue for a while, traders said, although it was not immediately clear where the cargoes will head to. Traders added that they are pinning their hopes on regional demand picking up and refinery cuts to curb supply. India's Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd has cut runs at its 300,000-barrels-per-day refinery after the detection of a leak in one of the plant's two hydrocrackers, a company source said. "There was a marginal leak detected in Hydrocracker-II at about 3:30 p.m.

General Dynamics Contibute $0.5 mi to CIMVHR

General Dynamics Canada is proud to announce a contribution of half a million dollars over three years to support the work of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR). The contribution will fuel research into understanding, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of operational stress injuries (OSIs) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) thereby enhancing the lives of Canadian military personnel, Veterans, their families and their communities. The $500,000.00 contribution is designed to support the partnership between CIMVHR and the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (The Royal), and support capacity building within both organizations.
