European RoRo ferry operator CLdN announced on Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all shares in Seatruck Ferries Holding Ltd. from Clipper Group. Freight ferry company Seatruck is reporting growth of more than 18pc in 2016 consolidating its position as the fastest growing operator on the Irish Sea, as more hauliers switch to its services. Seatruck chief executive Alistair Eagles said freight levels are also up 30pc in November 2016 compared to November last year. He further forecast winning even more business from hauliers switching ferry operators, following the opening of the new £125 million ($155 mln)  Bay Gateway relief road on October 31.

Irish Sea freight ferry operator Seatruck Ferries has been voted "Irish Sea Shipping Line of the Year". Seatruck Ferries received the award at the annual All Ireland "Transport & Logistics Awards" at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast on Friday, 10 September. The award was open to any shipping operation that sails into Ireland, including all ferry operations, container, bulk and liquid carriers. Seatruck made it into the final three, with P&O Irish Sea and Stena Line also in contention. During the presentation ceremony Seatruck was praised for running an excellent operation, with a number of extremely favourable customer comments finally convincing the independent judging panel that Seatruck should be given the winning vote.

Seatruck Ferries is to introduce a third vessel onto to its Heysham - Warrenpoint service in the summer of 2005. Lembitu, to be renamed Challenge, will join the Seatruck fleet on a two-year charter, allowing an additional 25,000 units per year to take advantage of the specialist freight route. With a capacity of 65 units and a service speed of 16.5 knots, the Challenge is well proven on the Irish Sea and will join the Moondance and Riverdance to increase schedule frequency from 2 to 3 sailings per day in each direction. The additional sailings will be timed to ideally fit the needs of the Irish Sea transport industry. Seatruck expect volumes to increase to 85,000 units per year.

SEATRUCK Ferries has celebrated the christening of the first of five new ferries, the Clipper Point, at Astilleros de Huelva in Spain. When it enters service early in 2007, the Clipper Point will be by far the largest and most powerful vessel to operate from Heysham. Working on the Seatruck route to Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland, the vessel can carry over 120 units, doubling the capacity of the current Seatruck vessels. Service speed will be an impressive 22 knots, reducing crossing times from 9 to 6.5 hours. To cope with the new vessel, Heysham Port is undertaking a significant investment in new facilities, including the provision of a brand new double-width ramp to permit more efficient vessel handling.

Seatruck Ferries has celebrated its tenth anniversary by confirming that the third and fourth vessels in a four-ship series building in Spain for the Clipper Group-owned Irish Sea freight ferry operator will be delivered in 2008. Last year, Seatruck ordered two 142 metre-long, 120-unit, 22-knot vessels from Astilleros de Huelva in Spain. These vessels – the Clipper Point and the Clipper Pace – will be delivered in 2007, replacing the Riverdance and Moondance, doubling capacity and significantly increasing speed and efficiency on the company’s Warrenpoint to Heysham route. The new vessels will be the largest and fastest freight-only ships ever to be used on the Irish Sea, offering a new level of service and reliability.
