MJP Appoints Regional Director for Americas

Marine Jet Power (MJP) has appointed Michael Rickey as President and Regional Director of Marine Jet Power, Inc. effective as of December, 2. Rickey will be responsible for business development in the Americas region, where the company holds a corporate office in Blacklick, Ohio.Prior to joining MJP, Rickey enjoyed a 24-year career with American Honda, where he began in 1995 as an assistant manager for export sales. Since then, he has served in several senior roles within the organization from operational to business development. Most recently serving as Senior Manager for Honda Marine.

Michael E. Rickey was named Senior Manager, Honda Marine, effective April 1, 2018.In this capacity he oversees total sales, operations and application engineering activities for the U.S. region, working to increase volume through the execution of competitive pricing; sales channel expansion; strategic advertising and promotional campaigns; and enhanced communications with OEM and dealer channels.Before his current role, Rickey most recently served as Senior Manager, Engines and Export Sales for the Honda Engines group.

Honda Marine, BRIG USA Ink OEM Deal

Honda Marine, a division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and marketer of a complete range of outboard marine 4-stroke engines, announced today a new OEM agreement with BRIG USA. BRIG Boats (www.brig-ribs.com) is a manufacturer of foldable and rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) for every budget and application, including recreational and professional use. JaxPort Selected as VW's Southeastern US Port

The Volkswagen Group will begin importing Volkswagens, Audis and Bentleys through Jacksonville on May 5th, after selecting JaxPort as the company's Southeastern U.S. port, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced at a news conference Wednesday. 100,000 Volkswagen group vehicles will be imported from Mexico and Germany through JaxPort in the next year, with 550,000 expected over the next five years, the Florida Times-Union reports. The paper added that the $3.4 million investment in a new auto distribution center will create 100 jobs.

Port of Brunswick Wins Honda Import Deal

The Georgia Ports Authority has won new import business from Honda. The 2015 Honda Fit, built at the carmaker’s new plant in Celaya, Mexico, is moving into the U.S. through the Port of Brunswick. International Auto Processing (IAP) will handle the cars upon arrival. “Highlighting the truly global nature of auto manufacturing, a Japanese company building cars in Mexico has chosen Georgia’s deepwater ports as a vital gateway to the U.S.,” said GPA Executive Director Curtis Foltz.

The new BF250 horsepower (hp) four-stroke engine, the most powerful outboard ever to join the Honda Marine lineup, is also the company’s flagship model. Incorporating a number of advanced technological innovations that contribute to the engine’s high fuel economy and superior performance, the 3.6-liter engine is additionally equipped with an all-new gear case, the world’s first marine direct air dual circuit induction system of its type (providing for cooler, denser air for better combustion than conventional under-cowl induction systems) and has a full-throttle rpm range of 5,300-6,300.
