Derecktor Shipyards Hires Steady as COO

The American Salvage Association (ASA) has elected a new slate of officers at its fall meeting on September 21 in Stamford, Conn. Todd Schauer, Resolve Marine Group was elected President, succeeding Paul Hankins, Donjon Marine Co., Inc., who served as President from 2013-2015. Paul Hankins, Vice President for Salvage Operations at Donjon Marine Co., Inc., was elected President, succeeding Tim Beaver, Global Diving & Salvage, Inc., who served as President from 2011-2013. Jim Elliott, T&T Marine Salvage, Inc., was named Secretary/Treasurer. Paul Hankins has over 30 years’ experience in the marine industry after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science in Naval Architecture and from George Washington University in 1991 with a Master’s degree in Environmental Management.

Resolve Marine/PENCO: Emergency Response in Hawaii

On February 2nd, 2011, a team of emergency responders from Resolve Marine Group and Pacific Environmental Corporation (dba PENCO)/American Marine Corporation, demonstrated their marine fire fighting capabilities in Honolulu Harbor. The trained crew of locally and internationally recognized professionals conducted an equipment deployment exercise, utilizing pumps and fire fighting monitors stored at the PENCO/American Marine facilities on pier 13, and operated from the deck of the M/V American Islander.

Marcon Announces Sale of Survey Vessel

Marcon International, Inc. confidential terms. commissioned by Cheramie BoTruc and rebuilt in 1983. subsequently sold to Bollinger Machine Shop. Mar Equipment in 1996. Current sellers bought the vessel in 2003. 1700BHP and fitted a 200HP bow thruster. generators provide electrical power. total of 32 persons in 8 staterooms. The 146 x 36-ft. unit will be reactivated from lay up in the U.S. Class being reinstated prior to sailing to West Africa for employment. Marcon acted as sole broker in the transaction. of one per week. expected to close within the next 30 days.

Grounded Ship to be Dislodged off of Hawaii

HONOLULU - The Unified Command continues to monitor the 145-foot motor vessel Casitas that ran aground at Pearl and Hermes Atoll, 86 miles east southeast of Midway Atoll on July 2nd. Preparations are now underway to extract the Casitas from the reef with what is hoped to be minimal environmental damage. Significant planning has been undertaken to ensure the safety of the people involved and to protect the ecological resources of the area. Pearl and Hermes Atoll is part of the Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge and is an important seabird and green sea turtle nesting ground, Hawaiian monk seal pupping site, home to endangered Laysan finches, and the site of more than 183,000 acres of coral reefs in Refuge and State of Hawaii waters.

Mauricio Garrido, Managing Director of Salvage for the Americas for Titan, a Crowley Company, (Fort Lauderdale, FL) has been elected ASA’s Vice President, and Tim Beaver, President of Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. (Seattle, WA) has been elected Secretary/Treasurer. In addition, James Calhoun, Senior Vice President, Bisso Marine Co., Inc. (Houston, TX); Paul Hankins, Vice President for Operations, Donjon-SMIT, LLC (Alexandria, VA); Charles Usher, President, Marine Pollution Control (Detroit, MI); and Ken Edgar, Marine Response Consultant (Houston, TX) were elected to ASA’s Executive Committee.

Three Dump Scows Built by Diversified Marine, Inc.

Diversified Marine, Inc. completed three Ala Wai Dump Scows for American Marine Corporation of Honolulu, Hawaii in June 2002. All three scows were built in Portland, Ore. at the Diversified Marine location and towed to Hawaii on barges. Each scow is built with a remote, air driven hydraulically operated control and with certified leak proof rubber seals. American Marine will use the scows for hauling dredged material from the Hawaiian Island waterways. The Glosten Associates, Inc. designed the scows. Length, molded 78.6 ft. Half breadth, hull, molded 12 ft. Beam, maximum o.a. 24.1 ft. Molded, depth, main deck 9.6 ft. Lightship draft 2.6 ft. Design, waterline draft 7.9 ft. Hopper volume, level to top of coaming 300 cu. yd.
