Amsterdam Becomes Destination for Superyachts

HISWA Holland Yachting Group and Port of Amsterdam are making real their ambition to establish Amsterdam more firmly as a major destination for superyachts. The diversity in berths located in the heart of the city centre, combined with excellent re-fit and maintenance facilities in the port area make Amsterdam a unique destination for superyachts. A quiet transformation has been underway in the superyacht world for some years now. Where the Mediterranean and the Caribbean used to reign supreme in terms of both facilities and interest, a new generation of yacht owners are increasingly looking for something more original. High latitudes are becoming ever more fashionable and northern Europe, with its superb nature, convivial culture and avant-garde art & design has been reaping the rewards.

IMCA to Host Wire Rope Workshop

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) Wire Rope workgroup has held three Wire Rope Workshops, the fourth in the series ā€˜Optimum System Design for High Value Subsea Construction Ropesā€™ will be held 18 March 2014 at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Amsterdam Airport. ā€œOur biannual Wire Rope Workshops are proving extremely relevant and interesting. Over 90 attended the last one in Amsterdam in October which focused on the lubrication of high value subsea construction ropes; others have looked at high value wire rope issues, and at non-destructive testingā€ explains IMCAā€™s Technical Director, Jane Bugler. ā€œThe March event will embrace the operatorsā€™ view of current and future system requirementsā€¦

Evergreen Group Chairman Honored in Rotterdam

Evergreen Group Chairman Dr Y F Chang is honored in Rotterdam with Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Rotterdam, The Netherlands (Aug. 22, 2011)-- Evergreen Group Chairman Dr. Chang Yung-Fa was presented the honor of Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau in recognition of his contribution to the port of Rotterdam and the development of Dutch economy. The award was presented on behalf of Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard, the Queen Regnant of the Netherlands, by the Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb at a ceremony held in the Wereldmuseum and witnessed by many local dignitaries. Said Dr. Chang: "Evergreen has enjoyed a successful and professional relationship with the Netherlands for more than three decades.
