Quark Takes Delivery of New Expedition Cruise Ship Ultramarine

U.S.-based Quark Expeditions has taken delivery of its new polar expedition cruise ship Ultramarine from the Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia.The 128-meter Ultramarine has accommodations for 199 passengers in 103 cabins, plus 140 crew members. Quark Expeditions Intros Ultramarine

Polar adventures specialist Quark Expeditions is to introduce new livery on Ultramarine, it’s latest expedition cruise vessel, which will debut in time for the 2020-2021 season in Antarctica.The 200 passenger polar expedition ship is under construction at Croatia’s Brodosplit shipyard. Steel Cut for Quark Polar Expedition Ship

Quark Orders Polar Expedition Ship from Brodosplit

Quark Expeditions has signed an agreement with Croatian shipbuilder Brodosplit to build a new expedition ship designed for operation in the polar regions.The 13,000+ gross metric ton, 200-passenger ship was designed by LMG Marin in cooperation with Quark Expeditions and is scheduled to be launched in 2020.“This ship will be more than just a ship – it will be an unrivalled operational base for polar expeditions,” said Andrew White, Quark Expeditions President.The ship will carry 20 zodiacs that will be rapidly deployable from an internal zodiac hangar with four embarkation points.

ACL Appoints Capt. White as Director of Marine Operations

American Cruise Lines (www.americancruiselines.com) has announced  that Captain Andrew White has joined the company as Director of Marine Operations. Captain White joins American Cruise Lines after his recent retirement from twenty-seven years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard. Thirteen of those years were spent on Coast Guard cutters on both the East and West Coasts of the United States, as well as the Caribbean Sea. His last Coast Guard shipboard command was the 378-foot cutter GALLATIN out of Charleston, SC.

Northland Returns Home from Operation Liberty Shield

The Coast Guard Cutter Northland is scheduled to return to its homeport today at 10 a.m. following a 63-day homeland security patrol for Operation Liberty Shield off the Virginia coast. Northland led a maritime security squadron (MSS) guarding the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. At times, Northland coordinated the patrol efforts of two U.S. Navy Coastal Patrol Boats and many fixed winged and rotary aircraft. Northland coordinated this multi-asset patrol effort to increase maritime domain awareness and monitor shipping traffic for threats to America and the ports and waterways from Hampton Roads, Va., to Baltimore.
