MCI Signs EchoPilot Deal
Marine Components International (MCI) in the UK has been chosen by Denmark’s Daniamant to distribute its British-designed EchoPilot forward-looking 3D sonar systems (FLS 3D).Dorset-headquartered maritime company supplies a wide range of high-end marine products to leading yacht builders and shipyards worldwide. MCI managing director Andy Scott said he is delighted to welcome EchoPilot to MCI’s portfolio.“EchoPilot is a pioneer in Forward Looking Sonar ever since patenting the World’s first forward looking sonar in 1992, and its latest FLS 3D sonar system is one of the very best on the market,” he said.“Boat owners are very familiar with 2D sonars, but these can only give a representation of what lies directly below, and what has already passed, the keel, with a significant time lag.
ISP Unveil Re-designed Lifejackets Range
UK's International Safety Products, manufacturer and supplier of marine safety products, says it launched a redesigned package of lifejackets at the recent Shipbuilding, Maritime and Machinery (SMM) trade show in Germany. The firm's Andy Scott said they unveiled new be-spoke versions of the Challenger Flexi-wing 150N, Challenger Interlock 275N and Challenger Worksafe Pro 170N lifejackets. The lifejackets now have additional design options to provide even greater comfort, particularly for people working across the maritime sector. Mr Scott said many manufacturers are highlighting 275N SOLAS/MED (Safety Of Life At Sea Maritime Equipment Directive) lifejackets as being better for working personnel than 150N SOLAS/MED lifejackets, whereas the opposite is true in many situations.
Lloyd's Register Designs Software to Monitor Instrumentation
Lloyd’s Register has designed the industry’s first reliability-based mechanical integrity (RBMI) software designed to address the maintenance needs of rotating and instrumentation equipment. The new modules integrate with the components of Capstone RBMI, allowing companies to combine the maintenance schedules for these types of assets into one program, driving greater efficiency into their processes. “RBMI programs have been used for many years to evaluate equipment risk and assess inspection and maintenance decisions for fixed equipment. But fixed equipment is just one type of a facility’s assets,” said Andy Scott, Global RBMI Business Director, Lloyd’s Register Americas.
