Ship Finance Sells Three VLCCs and a Jack-up Rig

Ship Finance International Limited announces that it has agreed to sell the 2007-built jack-up drilling rig Soehanah to an unrelated third party and three 2002-built VLCCs to ADS Crude Carriers Ltd., a newly established company in which Ship Finance has acquired a 17 percent interest.Ole B. Hjertaker, CEO of Ship Finance Management AS, said in a comment, "Divesting of older vessels is a part of the company's strategy to renew and diversify the fleet. Over the last three months, Ship Finance has taken delivery of 19 vessels with long-term charters, increasing our fixed charter backlog by nearly $600 million. EFC Delivers Equipment to Chinese Shipyard

EFC Group has completed a $2.2million contract to design and build a BOP and diverter control system for China-based Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co (DSIC Offshore). The system is installed onboard DSIC’s newbuild jack-up drilling rig, JU2000E-13 for drilling contractor Apexindo, where it will be known as Tasha. Bob Will, CEO at EFC Group, said, “This is a major contract for EFC, continuing our growth plan to become world class leader in control systems for both rig upgrades and new builds alike. It is also a significant project that’s been supported by our manufacturing base in Forres which gives us the additional capacity required to undertake projects of this scale. Keppel’s Integration Efforts Bear Results With million contracts

The integration of Keppel Corporation’s offshore and marine businesses has contributed to a $16 million (S$29 million) swamp barge contract clinched as a result of the synergy of the offshore and specialised shipbuilding divisions. Furthermore, with the integration and Keppel’s sharper focus on specialised shipbuilding, especially support vessels, the offshore and marine group has also won a new contract worth S$21 million from Keppel Smit Towage for three 60-ton tugs which are due for delivery in mid 2003. These tugs, a utility boat and two terminal tractor tugs, will be deployed by Keppel Smit Towage in Brunei for charter to Brunei Shell Petroleum Company.

Keppel Offshore and Marine Units Win Contracts

Keppel Corporation Limited, through its offshore and marine units in Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has clinched contracts worth a total of $41 million from repeat customers. Three contracts over $28 million are for the upgrades of jack-up rig Ensco 81 and barge drilling unit Ensco 1 from Ensco Offshore Company (ENSCO), and swamp barge Maera from PT Apexindo Pratama Duta, an Indonesian drilling contractor. Another contract is for a new Anchor Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS) vessel for Pacific Richfield Marine Pte Ltd, owner and operator of offshore support vessels in the Asia and Pacific region. Tong Chong Heong, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Keppel O&M said, “Shipyards usually become involved in a job only after the design and engineering work is completed.

Jurong Gets $404M Semi-Sub Option

Jurong Shipyard said that SeaDrill Limited (SeaDrill) has exercised the option to build the second unit of the 6th generation ultra deep water semi-submersible drilling rig at a contract value of $404 million. The contract price is based on a turnkey contract with all owner-furnished equipment (OFE) including the 7,500 feet of riser and BOP. In connection, SeaDrill awarded Jurong Shipyard an additional option to build a third unit of the semi-submersible based on the same design and at comparable terms. This option takes effect in August 2006. The second unit of the Friede & Goldman ExD-designed semi-submersible rig, originally on a three-month option and effective October 2005, takes immediate effect with delivery scheduled in November 2008.

Keppel Completes Raissa

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) Group has strengthened its participation in the inshore oil and gas drilling industry, with the successful completion of the Raissa, a posted submersible drilling barge for Indonesian drilling contractor PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk. Keppel FELS Limited has earlier been chosen as the preferred partner for PT Apexindo’s drilling fleet build-up and enhancement. The Company signed the $29 million contract for Raissa in May 2002, followed by a refurbishment contract for drilling barge, Maera. Another similar newbuilding order for the Yani was signed in October last year. All three drilling units will be deployed in the inshore Tunu field, East Kalimantan, for TotalFinaElf Indonesia.

Keppel Wins Barge Order

Keppel Corporation Limited, through its offshore unit in Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has clinched another contract to build a swamp barge from repeat customer, PT Apexindo Pratama Duta Tbk (PT Apexindo). The S$25 million contract for the swamp barge, Yani, is the third contract PT Apexindo has awarded to Keppel FELS Ltd. The Indonesian drilling contractor, who recently obtained a public listing on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, has earlier awarded Keppel with two other contracts, one for the new construction of swamp barge Raisa, and another for the repair and refurbishment of swamp barge Maera.
