Hamburg Süd Christen Container Ship

Hamburg Süd celebrate the christening of container ship “Santa Barbara” at the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) in Shenzhen, China. The “Santa Barbara” was the last of a total of ten new buildings of the “Santa” class to be christened. Like her nine sister ships, the “Santa Barbara” has a slot capacity of 7,100 TEU and is fitted with 1,600 reefer container plugs. Following her delivery at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) in May 2012, she was phased straight into Hamburg Süd’s service between Asia and South Africa/South America East Coast. The “Santa Barbara” is the third vessel to bear this name in the more than 140-year history of Hamburg Süd. The sponsor was ohanna Oetker, a daughter of Dr Arend Oetker.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2012, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of its container ship “Santa Barbara” at the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) in Shenzhen (People’s Republic of China). Sponsor of the “Santa Barbara” was Johanna Oetker, a daughter of Dr Arend Oetker. The “Santa Barbara” was the last of a total of ten new buildings of the “Santa” class to be christened. Hamburg Süd: Christening of the “Santa Ines” in South Korea

On Wednesday, 27 June 2012, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of its container ship “Santa Ines” at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) in Geoje-City in Korea. Sponsor of the “Santa Ines” was Dr Marie Schnell, a daughter of Dr Arend Oetker. The “Santa Ines” is the last newbuilding of a series of ten container ships, each of which has a slot capacity of 7,100 TEU and is fitted with 1,600 reefer container plugs. Following her delivery at DSME on 29 July, the “Santa Ines” is to be phased into Hamburg Süd’s service between Asia and South Africa/South America East Coast.

Hamburg Süd's First Argentina Christening

The Monte Alegre, the ninth in a series of ten ships of the 5,552 TEU Monte class, was christened in Buenos Aires on March 22. It was the first ship christening in the more than 137-year history of Hamburg Süd to take place in Argentina. Sponsor of the Monte Alegre was Dr Brigitte Oetker, wife of Dr. Arend Oetker, Managing Partner of Dr. Arend Oetker Holding GmbH & Co. On delivery, the Monte Alegre was phased into the shipping company's Asia - South America Service. Following the christening, she is to be deployed in Hamburg Süd's Europe - South America East Coast Service. Length o.a.
