Equally impressive is what’s inside that rapidly developing hull and why those features were chosen.The U.S. boatbuilding scene is a changing landscape of waterfront manufacturing that constantly evolves to meet the inevitable peaks and valleys of demand. Nowhere is that reality more apparent than at California-based Moose Boats. In October 2016, Lind Marine announced the acquisition of Moose Boats. That move was important because Lind Marine operated a 5-acre shipyard including a 430 foot dry-dock and 1,600 feet of linear pier on Mare Island in Vallejo, CA.
HSOG Named a Distributor for Marine Armor Systems
HSOG Limited appointed antipiracy and ship hardening distribution and installation agents for Marine Armor Systems. Global marine and offshore service provider HSOG has been appointed distribution and installation agents for the and cost effective antipiracy and ship hardening system developed by European company Marine Armor Systems. HSOG are fully trained and OEM approved to distribute and install the configurable system to a diverse and multifaceted range of vessel types, ranging from offshore support vessels through to VLCCs. With its background and resource base in offshore project works, HSOG can also install the MAS system to “at risk” offshore assets both fixed and mobile on a global basis.
MAS Debuts Exclusive Armor Systems
Following on from the continued success of the product, Marine Armor System (MAS) announced its global launch and updated website. MAS is a nonlethal vessel protection system based on ballistic blinds, protecting the vessel or rig against pirate attacks and other potential threats such as armed robbery, terrorism and acts of sabotage. The system includes anti pirate blockades, bunkers and armored citadels or safe rooms onboard, protecting crew with a bulletproof barrier in case of pirate boarding, in line with IMO recommendations.
Safariland Delivers on $4.6M U.S Navy Contract
Safariland, a BAE Systems line of business, announced that it has completed delivery of ballistic protection kits to Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for use on each of 12 U.S. Navy escort vessels. The 64-ft Screening Escort Vessels (SEV) will be operated by the U.S. Coast Guard for securing high-value naval assets. The ballistic protection kits were manufactured under Safariland’s Protech line of Armor Systems, and provide lightweight, superior ballistic performance. The ballistic protection kits for the SEV will enable protection against harsh environments for long-term serviceability.
