Drydocks World to Build Mega Jack-up Rig for the North Sea

Drydocks World, international service provider to the maritime, oil and gas and energy sectors, signed an Agreement with Drill One Capital for building the “Dubai Expo 2020 NS” mega jack-up rig. Gusto MSC, a major partner in the project, designed the CJ 80 rig and the rig will be the first of this design to be built and will be the largest jack-up rig ever built. Chinese Shipyard Inks Creon Jack-up Rig Order

Jiangsu Yangzijiang Offshore Engineering Co. Ltd. signs contract for the rig with Creon associate company Explorer 1. The directors of Creon the resources infrastructure investment company, announce that Jiangsu Yangzijiang Offshore Engineering Co. Ltd. has entered into a contract valued at US$170-million with Explorer I Limited to construct and deliver a Le Tourneau Super 116E Class design self-elevating mobile offshore jack up drilling rig. Delivery of the Rig is anticipated in the second quarter of 2015. It will be built to ABS Classifications and capable of drilling to 30,000 feet in sea depths of up to 350 feet. The rig will be fully equipped with state of the art drilling equipment and will have accommodation for 120 people.

Aker Solutions ASA: Drilling in Houston

Aker Solution's new state-of-the-art drilling equipment simulator

International oil services group Aker Solutions is about to open North America's most advanced drilling equipment simulator in Houston, Texas. The simulator will be available to rig operators with the objective of making offshore drilling operations safer and more cost effective. Aker Solutions is investing USD 2.5 million in the new state-of-the-art drilling equipment simulator, which will be available 24/7 for North American based rig operators and oil companies. It will double the capacity of the current training centre located in Katy near Houston.

J. Ray McDermott Wins Barge Job

J. Ray McDermott ("J. Ray"), a subsidiary of McDermott International Inc. ("McDermott"), announced that it has been awarded a contract by Coastal Drilling Company, LLC to fabricate a drilling barge at J. Ray’s Morgan City, Louisiana facility. Coastal Drilling’s Rig #22, a 3,000 HP posted barge rig with dimensions of 250’ x 70’ x 18’ will be constructed in one of J. Ray’s onsite fabrication buildings. J. Ray will have upwards of 100 employees engaged to complete the barge work during the third and fourth quarter of 2005. The drill barge is scheduled to sail by January 2006. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate our expertise and capabilities on this job.
