Jadestone Energy Working to Address Tank Defect on Montara Venture FPSO

Australia, Indonesia join forces on maritime security

A coordinated patrol between the Australian Defense Force (ADF) and Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) to improve security along the shared maritime border has concluded this week in Bali, Indonesia. Coordinated maritime patrol AUSINDO CORPAT 2018, the eighth iteration of the exercise, began in Darwin on 16 April following seven days of joint exercises between the two nations’ defence forces. The ADF’s HMAS Broome and TNI’s naval vessels KRI Layang and Kakap covered waters between Australia and Indonesia over nine days, targeting maritime security threats, including illegal fishing, while improving the collection and sharing of information between the two nations.

Strategic Marine Delivers MV Thaiyak

Specialist shipbuilder Strategic Marine has delivered the On-Station vessel Thaiyak to the Australian Customs & Border Protection Service (ACBPS). GOST Announces Promotions, Adds New Team Member

Marine security, monitoring and tracking systems supplier GOST (Global Ocean Security Technologies) has promoted Parrish Westbrook to National Sales and OEM Account Manager, Samantha Thomas to Sales and Marketing Coordinator and added Product Specialist Tony Miller to the team. Parrish Westbrook joined the GOST team in September 2010, overseeing all sales through dealers, distributors and representatives throughout the United States. After much success Parrish was promoted to National Sales Manager in 2011.

AMSA Coordinates Search and Rescue North of Ashmore Island

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) issued a media release stating that it coordinated the rescue of 77 persons from waters north of Ashmore Island after their vessel broke up. The individuals are being transported to Christmas Island. “The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has coordinated the search and rescue of 77 people following after their vessel broke up 60 nautical miles north of Ashmore Island. At approximately 3 p.m. AEDT on Wednesday, a Customs and Border Protection Dash 8 aircraft was conducting routine patrol in the area when it sighted what appeared to be a broken up vessel with a number of people in the vicinity in the water.

Fishing Targeted by Australian-Indonesian Operation

Illegal fishing has been the focus of a joint Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Indonesian Armed Forces operation that concluded in Darwin. The third Australian-Indonesian coordinated maritime security patrol, AUSINDO CORPAT 2012, started in Kupang, West Timor on 16 April and was held in the waters between Australia and Indonesia from 19-27 April 2012. The operation included aircraft, ships and headquarters staff from both nations in a synchronised task group. The ADF contributed an Armidale Class Patrol Boat, HMAS PIRIE and an AP-3C Orion aircraft. The Indonesian Armed Forces provided naval vessels KRI KAKAP and KRI TONGKOL and a CASA NC-212 aircraft.

Aker Kvaerner to Create New Jobs on Teesside

Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner, headquartered in Aberdeen, is to open a satellite office in Stockton-on-Tees, UK. The office will be responsible for a range of upstream oil and gas projects, and modification work. The office is located within the existing Aker Kvaerner premises at Ashmore House, Stockton-on-Tees and will be operational from January 2006. "In addition to servicing work arising from current and future clients, Aker Kvaerner intends to develop the office as a center of engineering excellence to execute cross-border work for our Norwegian sister companies and clients," said Richard Strachan, operations director with Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner Ltd. Based in Stockton for more than 100 years, Aker Kvaerner has a long-standing commitment to the Teesside area.
