Shipbuilding Contract: Zamakona Nabs ESVAGT Deal

Astilleros Zamakona S.A, belonging to our group Zamakona Yards has signed a contract with the owner ESVAGT A.S, a company belonging to the multinational Danish AP Møller-Mærsk. The vessel will be delivered in the 2nd quarter of 2017 and will have the design and engineering of Havyard Design & Solutions A.S in cooperation with the ship-owner himself and our shipyard. It aims to make the change of crews in emergency assistance to offshore oil platforms, support for the maintenance operations of wind offshore facilities, etc.

Baptism of RONJA POLARIS

On the past October 10th was held in Alesund (Norway) the baptism ceremony of the Ronja Polaris vessel, belonging to the Norwegian ship-owner Sølvtrans and built by Astilleros Zamakona S.A., group member of Zamakona Yards. Although the vessel was delivered in October last year, the ceremony is now performed since after delivery it went straight to service Marine Harvest. This year the vessel has carried more than 70,000 tones of live fish already. At the event served as Godmother Mrs. Anja Halsebakk (daughter of Roger Halsebakk) and were present Sølvtrans CEO, Mr. Roger Halsebakk, the ship’s master, Mr. Anders Solheim, Mr. Luis Magro y Mr. Ángel Sanchez (General Director and Commercial Director of our Zamakona Shipyards respectively).

New RAstar Tug for Svitzer Marie of Denmark

Svitzer Marine Ltd., a division of Svitzer AS of Copenhagen, Denmark, has taken delivery of their latest high-performance tug from Astilleros Zamakona SA. The Svitzer Pembroke is the latest of the RAstar Class true escort tug designs from Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, BC. The RAstar 3600 class Svitzer Pembroke falls in size between its five 111.5-ft (RAstar 3400) and one 128-ft (RAstar 3900) cousins all working at the Milford Haven terminals, and all built to Robert Allan Ltd. designs.

Enhanced Escort Tug Ajax Delivered to Ostenjo Rederi

Østensjø Rederi AS of Haugesund, Norway has received Ajax, one of the most powerful dedicated tanker escort tugs in the world, and the most powerful in Europe, for service on the west coast of Norway. Constructed by Astilleros Zamakona S.A. of Vizcaya/Bilbao, Spain, beginning in early 1999, the tug was built in accordance with DNV Regulations as an Escort Tug, with Fire-Fighter I and Oil Recovery certification, and also in full compliance with the National Regulations of the Norwegian Maritime Directorate. Created by Robert Allan Ltd., the design of this powerful new tug incorporates a number of unique hull form developments which are the result of an extensive series of model tests and research by the firm over the past several years into the performance of escort tugs.
