Med Tier III Harbor Tug Powered by MAN

MAN Energy Solutions won the contract to supply the engines for a new harbor tug in Spain, unique in that it is reportedly the first IMO Tier III compliant tug operating in the Mediterranean.P&O Reyser will operate the 27-m, 75T bollard-pull-rated Asymmetric Tractor Tug (ATT) in the Port of Barcelona, which is expected to enter service from mid-2020.The tug will feature 2 × MAN 12V175D MM, IMO Tier III engines, each rated at 2,220 kWm. Government Shutdown: USCG Update

To mitigate the impact caused by the partial lapse in appropriations and shutdown of National Maritime Center (NMC) operations, the following updated actions are being taken:• Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) (National Endorsements only) and Medical Certificates that expire in December 2018, January 2019, or February 2019 are extended as valid until April 30, 2019. Gaussin Wins 100-unit Deal for Electric Terminal Vehicles

Gaussin Manugistique SA, designer and manufacturer of industrial and port transport vehicles, sealed a record deal for its container-handling Automotive Terminal Trailer (ATT) from Turkish port and logistics operator AKAN-SEL. Under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on June 26 at the TOC Container Supply Chain Europe show in Rotterdam, AKAN-SEL has placed a confirmed order for 40 ATT units, with an option for 60 more. The new units will be fitted with Gaussin’s new Full Elec Power Pack, which was also officially launched at TOC CSC Europe. Tugboat Roundup Cancelled in Waterford

Event Was Scheduled for Sept. 9-11. The annual Tugboat Roundup scheduled for Sept. 9-11, 2011, at the Waterford Harbor on the Erie Canal has been cancelled because of the impacts from Tropical Storm Irene. High waters and flood damage have hampered navigation along the New York State Canal system. The Hudson River also has high waters. The Erie Canal remains closed to navigation between Lock 2 in Waterford, Saratoga County, and Lock 19 in Frankfort, Montgomery County. The Champlain Canal remains closed for its entire length. No date has been established on when these canal sections might re-open.
