Intermarine Open Houston Ship Channel Operations Center

Intermarine, LLC, has officially opened its state of the art Operations Center at Industrial Terminal, the leading breakbulk terminal on the Houston Ship Channel. They say that this landmark building is the only office building of its kind on the Ship Channel and houses Intermarine's entire technical, operations, traffic and terminal teams. The Operations Center is located at 14035 Industrial Road in Houston, Texas, and is a five story, 13,311 square foot building just 200 feet from the Houston Ship Channel.

Cruise & Ferry Report

The latest catamaran to pierce the waves from Incat Tasmania is Milenium, which was delivered to Transmediterranea for operation in the Mediterranean. Launched this past April from Incat's Coverdales shipbuilding facility at Hobart's Prince of Wales Bay, the 315 ft. (96 m) vessel entered service this past May. Milenium offers a total of 330 truck lane meters at 3.1 x 4.3 m clear height, making it suitable for heavy road transport vehicles, and 370 car lane meters at 2.3 x 2.1 m. Austal Delivers Fast Twins for Hong Kong Fleet

Austal has delivered its latest high speed passenger catamarans to a market that did much to establish the Australian shipbuilder as a world leader in the design and construction of high speed ferries. Hong Kong based New World First Ferry Services (Macau) Limited accepted delivery of two 47.5 metre passenger catamarans at the beginning of September, taking the total number of Austal-built vessels in its fleet to seven. Officiating at the colourful Launching Ceremony at Hong Kong’s Dragon Cruise Pier and at Macau Ferry Terminal were Mr R C L Footman, JP, Commissioner for Transport of Hong Kong SAR Government and Mr Ao Man Long, Secretary for Transport and Public Works of Macau SAR Government.

Silversea Buys Ship; Refurb Next

Silversea Cruises Group Ltd. bought the expedition ship World Discoverer. The company took delivery of the vessel in Singapore on September 17. The ship will undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment before it begins service in spring 2008. After the planned refurbishment, World Discoverer will accommodate approximately 140 guests (reduced from current 175) and a crew complement of 106 in a state-of-the-art vessel sporting the latest communications systems, audio-visual equipment, and other high-end amenities. The 6,072-ton vessel also boasts a strengthened hull with the highest Lloyd's Register ice-class notation (1A), appropriate for navigating waters, without an escort, in some of the world's most remote regions, including Antarctica.
