Trelleborg, DHI Pact on Port Enhancement

Trelleborg's Automoor for Port of Tallinn

Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation has been awarded a contract to install its rope-free automated mooring system, AutoMoor, at the Old City Harbor at the Port of Tallinn, which is the biggest harbor in Estonia and one of the busiest passenger harbors in the world.In first quarter of 2020, Trelleborg will install six units of its AutoMoor T40 Twin Arm at the Old City Harbor’s Berth 13 cruise ferry wharf to facilitate faster berthing processes and improve safety levels within the port environment.

Cavotec Wins Automated Mooring Order

Marine engineering specialists Cavotec has announced it has has signed an agreement with a port operator to equip two berths at a terminal with MoorMaster automated mooring systems.The Switzerland-based global engineering group said in a press note that it will design, supply and commission the MoorMaster automated mooring systems for the two berths. Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2019, with the systems entering service in 2020.The order value amounts to approximately EUR 10.3 million, whereof a majority is expected to be recorded in 2019 and the remainder in 2020, it said."MoorMaster improves safety, reduces environmental impact, and substantially increases operational efficiency by cutting mooring times and reducing vessel motion.

Wärtsilä, Cavotec Developing Wireless Charging, Mooring Concept

An agreement has been signed between Wärtsilä and Cavotec to jointly develop the world's first combined induction charging and automatic mooring concept. Wärtsilä has developed a wireless charging system based on inductive power transfer. Cavotec provides automated mooring systems for various types of vessels, as well as shore power and reel systems. By combining the strengths and expertise of the two companies, an integrated wireless charging/mooring concept is to be developed for use in Wärtsilä's ship designs. Wireless charging eliminates the cable connection between the vessel and shore, thereby securing and facilitating safe connections and disconnections. It also reduces maintenance since wear and tear to physical connection lines is eliminated.

Cavotec Wins Largest MoorMaster Order to Date

Cavotec has been awarded a €10 million order for MoorMaster automated mooring units at a container port to be disclosed later in a joint press release with the customer. It is the largest single order to date for the technology, and further underlines the growing demand for Cavotec's automated mooring systems. Cavotec will design, manufacture and install MoorMaster systems for a port mooring container ships up to 13,000 TEU. Cavotec will also train locally based technicians who will provide technical support for the customer following delivery of the units.

Cavotec wins order from ABB for twenty compact Marine Propulsion Slip ring (MPS) units to be fitted to advanced Azipod marine propulsion systems. Under the terms of this project, Cavotec is scheduled to complete deliveries of the MPS units to ABB by the beginning of Q2 2013. Cavotec MPS units, fitted to Azipod systems, enable vessel propellers to rotate through 360 degrees in its vertical axis thus providing steering. Automated Mooring Systems Order for Cavotec

Cavotec wins order to supply 18 MoorMaster automated mooring units for a Mediterranean Sea port. MoorMaster is a vacuum-based automated mooring technology that eliminates the need for conventional mooring lines. Remote controlled vacuum pads recessed in, or mounted on, the quayside, moor and release vessels in seconds. Under the terms of the contract, Cavotec will engineer, manufacture, install and commission 18 MoorMaster MM200C units, which will be used on an exposed container berth on the Mediterranean Sea. By reducing mooring times to a matter of seconds, the MoorMaster units will deliver higher rates of productivity and utilisation that are not possible with conventional mooring methods.

Cavotec Wins Major Container Terminal Cable Reel Order

Cavotec wins major cable reel order for Sri Lanka container port. Cavotec has won a substantial order for power and spreader cable reels for ship-to shore (STS) container cranes from the world’s largest port equipment manufacturer ZPMC. This project will see Cavotec electrical power and spreader cable reels fitted to 12 STS cranes for the China Merchant container terminal in the Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The cranes form an important element of the Colombo South Harbour Development Project, a $500-million initiative that is set to considerably enhance the capacity of Sri Lanka's main port. According to a report by the Xinhua news agency, the programme is the largest foreign direct investment project in Sri Lanka to date.
