Eletson, Evergas Form Shipping Alliance

Eletson Gas and Evergas announced an alliance of the two companies that will trade the companies’ semi-ref/ethylene capable vessels. The new venture, to be called the E3 Pool, will commence trading on the 30th of January from the Eletson offices in Piraeus and London and the Evergas offices in Copenhagen and Singapore. The new commercial venture will control the 15-strong fleet of modern gas carriers that are currently trading. It will be joined by a further four vessels to be delivered to Eletson over the next twelve months and will create a single point of contact for cargo owners. A larger fleet will provide more flexibility and more options for Charterers…

INTERTANKO's Council Meets in London

Discussion at INTERTANKO's Council and Executive Committee meetings in London last week emphasized the depth work by the association and its members since the last Council meeting in April. This has reached from lobbying to both industry and politicians, to discussions and negotiations at IMO; from work in the EU and US to Asia; from environmental issues to industry relationships and chemical issues; and also an increasing range of member services. INTERTANKO has actively engaged in matters arising from the Prestige accident - specifically the accelerated phase-out of single-hull tankers, restriction on the carriage of heavy oils to double-hull tankers, expansion of the Condition Assessment Scheme (CAS).

New Leadership for INTERTANKO’s Hellenic Forum

INTERTANKO’s Hellenic Forum last week elected its new Chairman and governing team. Emmanuel Vordonis of Thenamaris Ships Management will be the next Chairman, succeeding Ceres Hellenic’s Nicholas G. Fistes who held the position for three years, and is the Hellenic Forum’s third Chairman. Nick Fistes will remain as a Vice Chairman alongside Costis Kertsikoff of Eletson Corporation and Spyros Polemis of Seacrest Shipping. They will work together with the Steering Committee and the members of the Forum to stimulate constructive thinking and generate new ideas out of the hands-on international experience of the Greek shipping community.

Captain Kertsikoff, Venerable Member of Shipping Industry, Passes

Captain Erric B. Kertsikoff, Vice-Chairman of Intertanko since 1997 and a member of the Executive Committee since 1994, passed suddenly on February 6. Kertsikoff was also Chairman of the Hellenic Forum and an active member of the Association for more than 25 years. Kertsikoff served the Greek and International Shipping Industry for more than 50 years, with dedication and love. According to Intertanko, his personal commitment and contribution was truly outstanding; his enthusiasm and guidance was inspirational, and the leadership and statesmanship he brought had profound importance in shaping the stature and success that the Association enjoys today. Intertanko's managing director, Peter Swift said: "I, along with many colleagues in Intertanko, have personally lost a dear friend and mentor.
