Tradepoint Atlantic Dry Dock Back in Action

Tradepoint Atlantic, a 3,300-acre multimodal global logistics center in Baltimore, Md., said its dry dock will return to service this week after last being used in 2017. BAE Systems’ Titan dry dock departed is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore and dock at Tradepoint Atlantic’s onsite dry dock to undergo a five-month-long repair and maintenance program starting Thursday.Used in Norfolk, Va. for servicing ships as long as 1,000 feet, BAE Systems' massive Titan dry dock has a 52,534-ton lifting capacity and is one of the world’s largest and most modern floating steel dry docks.

BAE Systems Wins $146.3 Mln US Navy Contract

BAE Systems said it has been awarded a $146.3 million contract from the U.S. Navy to modernize the USS Gettysburg (CG 64).The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser will undergo about 15 months of work at the company’s shipyard in Norfolk, Va., the ship’s homeport. The contract includes options that, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $151.3 million.Starting in January 2019, the Gettysburg will undergo extensive repair and upgrade work that will return the ship to full capability after nearly four years of inactive status under the Navy’s cruiser modernization program.

BAE Systems Wins US Navy Modernization Work

BAE Systems said it has received contracts from the U.S. Navy for the modernization of guided missile destroyers USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) and USS Howard (DDG 83), valued at $41.6 million  and $47.8 million respectively. BAE System Wins $139.8M Contract

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Virginia, is being awarded a $139,818,901 firm-fixed-price contract for the execution of USS Tortuga (LSD 46) fiscal 2018 modernization period Chief of Naval Operations availability. This availability will include a combination of maintenance, modernization, and repair of USS Tortuga. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $183,794,039. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Virginia, and is expected to be completed by May 2019. Fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance (Navy); and fiscal 2018 other procurement (Navy) funding in the amount of $139,818,901 will be obligated at time of award; and funds in the amount of $112,553,445 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

BAE Systems to Modernize Cruiser USS Vicksburg

BAE Systems will perform ship alternations and miscellaneous repairs aboard the 567-foot-long USS Vicksburg (CG 69) under a $42.9 million U.S. Navy contract. The value of the competitively awarded contract could reach $45.9 million if all options are exercised. Under the special selected restricted availability (SSRA) contract, BAE Systems will perform ship alternations and miscellaneous repairs aboard the 567-foot-long ship, including the replacement of critical aluminum structures. The work is expected to begin in April and be completed by September at the company’s Norfolk, Virginia shipyard. The Vicksburg is the second East Coast-based guided missile cruiser to undergo extensive repair and upgrade work as part of the Navy's long-term modernization program for cruisers.

BAE Systems Awarded USS Arleigh Burke Contract Modification

US Department of Defense inform that BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Virginia, is being awarded a $55,911,832 modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-4308) for USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) fiscal 2015 extended selected restricted availability. An extended selected restricted availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Virginia, and is expected to be completed by December 2016. Fiscal 2014 operations and maintenance (Navy) and fiscal 2014 other procurement (Navy) contract funds in the amount of $53,949,031 will be obligated at the time of award.

BAE Systems Awarded Two Navy Contract Modifications

1. BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Mayport, Jacksonville, Florida, is being awarded an $54,698,937 modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-4406) for a Docking Selected Restricted Availability to include structural work and extensive repairs and maintenance onboard USS Gettysburg (CG-64). This availability includes hull, machinery, electrical, electronics, ship alterations, and piping alteration and repair work. Work will be performed in Jacksonville, Florida, and is expected to be completed by April 2015. Fiscal 2014 operations and maintenance (Navy) funding in the amount of $32,914,644 will be obligated at time of award. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

GLDD, BAE, Awarded DoD Contracts

U.S. Department of Defense informs that a New York Harbor dredging contract has been awarded to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD) and a Navy USS Jacinto drydocking contract to BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair. Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, LLC, Oak Brook, Illinois, was awarded a $17,027,415 modification (P00003) to contract W912DS-13-C-0045 for dredging shoaled material. Work will be performed in New York harbor along Newark Bay Port Elizabeth Channel, Newark Bay north and south areas, and along Kill Van Kull in the vicinity of Constable Hook and Anchorage Channel. Estimated completion date is Sept. 7, 2014. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York, New York, is the contracting activity.

BAE Gets Navy Contract for USS Arlington

The Department of Defense awards a Navy contract for work on LPD 24 to BAE Systems, Norfolk, Va. BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $22,527,198 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-2204) to exercise an option for services and material for USS Arlington (LPD 24) post-shakedown availability. Specific efforts include: program management, planning, engineering, design, liaison, scheduling, labor and procurement of incidental material in support of fitting out availability and post-shakedown availability. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., (90.53 percent), and Chesapeake, Va., (9.47 percent), and is expected to be completed by April 2014.

USS Porter Repair/Modernization Contract Awarded

Naval Sea Systems Command awarded a $49,435,634 firm-fixed price contract contract for the maintenance, modernization and repair of USS Porter to BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair. The fiscal year 2013 chief of naval operations (CNO) extended dry-docking selected restricted availability (EDSRA) was competed on a coast-wide basis to maximize competitive pricing and best-value to the government. The scope of work includes damage repairs resulting from the Aug. 12, 2012, collision in the Straits of Hormuz as well as previously planned maintenance and modernization.

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair contracted for 'USS Porter' (DDG 78) extended dry-docking work by the Department of Defense. The value of the firm-fixed-price contract for fiscal 2013 US $49,435,634. The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $61,289,100.  All work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by April 2014. How did you come to your current position? Clifford    I currently serve as the president of BAE Systems Ship Repair and have been in this position since 2008. In this role, I lead our six full service shipyards and our 5,000 highly skilled employees. Prior to assuming my current role, I was the vice president and general manager of BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair. Before joining BAE Systems, I spent more than 20 years in the private sector serving in senior management positions at several shipyards.
