Danish bunker group Monjasa has transferred a ship from West Africa to Panama, where it carried out its first fuel supply off the coast of Balboa."As part of a fleet reshuffle, Accra arrived in Panama after forming part of Monjasa’s West Africa bunker operation. The tanker fast received all safety and operational approvals from the Panama Maritime Authorities and completed her first fuel supply at Balboa Anchorage on 18 January," said a statement from the marine fuels supplier.Accra is a 2010-built and 8,800 dwt tanker. Monjasa manages two additional barges in the Panama Canal – one in Balboa and one in Cristóbal – and currently delivers around 40,000 tonnes of bunkers monthly."The total fleet of bunker barges in Panama holds an average age of 31 years and 3,100 dwt.

SAFE Boats International of Bremerton, Wash. announced at 2017 Colombia Mar that it has broadened its previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with COTECMAR into a multiyear, definitive Association Agreement to coproduce many of its products already in Colombia. The agreement includes coproduction of SAFE models already in use in Central and South America such as the Defender, Apostle and Full Cabin Jet Boats along with its most recently introduced Multi-Mission Interceptor (MMI).

Russia is sharply upgrading the firepower of its Baltic Fleet in Kaliningrad by adding warships armed with long-range cruise missiles to counter NATO's build-up in the region, Russian media reported on Wednesday. There was no official confirmation from Moscow, but the reports will raise tensions in the Baltic, already heightened since Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea, and are likely to cause alarm in Poland and Lithuania which border Kaliningrad. Vessel traffic on the Intracoastal Waterway near Bal Harbor, Florida is restricted following an incident involving a yacht and the Broad Causeway bridge. Due to the incident, only the bridge's west leaf is able to open. Restrictions on vessel traffic limit movement of large vessels with a width of 40 feet or less as only one half of the bridge is operational. Vessels with a height of less than 16 feet in height can transit as normal. Vessels with a height greater than 16 feet must have a width less than 40 feet to navigate through the waterway. The bridge connects North Miami to Bay Harbor Islands and Bal Harbor. The 161-foot yacht, Rockstar, was being towed by two tug boats Tuesday when the incident occurred.

Two cargo barges have popped up on either coast of the country, prompting wild rumors about whether Google is behind the floating enigmas and what projects could possibly be in store, reports the Christian Science Monitor. On the edge of Treasure Island, an old Navy base in the San Francisco Bay, the 250-foot long, 72-foot wide, four-story tall cargo barge with the registration BAL 0010 is not open to the public, and is heavily guarded at all times. It is also attached to a warehouse called Hangar 3, which has also been heavily guarded since it started working with a new tenant last year.

The EMSA-contracted Stand by Oil Spill Response Vessel Salina Bay arrived this weekend on site of the Costa Concordia to assist SMIT Salvage, who is in charge of the bunker removal and pollution response operations. Preparations are on-going for the removal of the bunker oil from the grounded cruise ship Costa Concordia. The Salina Bay will be -as a precautionary measure- on stand-by during this operation over the next weeks. The Salina Bay is equipped with several oil recovery systems, as booms, skimmer, sweeping arms and a dedicated radar slick detection system.
