OceanSaver BWT Chosen for VLCC Newbuildings
Chinese Shipyard orders next generation ballast water treatment system by OceanSaver. Rongsheng Shipbuilding Heavy Industries, a large heavy industries shipbuilding group in China, has chosen Mark II, OceanSaverâs next generation ballast water treatment system, for two 317.000 dwt VLCC newbuildings. The contract comes just weeks after DNV type approval, certifying Mark II to fully meet the requirements of the International Ballast Water Convention, and previous system orders placed by Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (China) and SPP Shipyard (Korea) for two suezmax and four bulk vessels.
OceanSaver BWT Technology Receives Type Approval
OceanSaver today announced DNV Type Approval certification of its revolutionary next generation ballast water management technology, Mark II. âWe have successfully passed all DNV Type Approval requirements guaranteeing that our newest BWT technology, Mark II fully meets the requirements of the International Ballast Water Convention and the Norwegian Administration,â said Houtan Houshangi, CEO of OceanSaver. OceanSaverâs Mark II ballast water treatment system is a tailored version of the already type approved Mark I model, but with the most âenergy demandingâ features of the Mark I removed. The Mark II model introduces better performing filtration technology and reduces piping installations considerably, which saves both time and money during installation.
OceanSaver Names Houtan Houshangi Interim CEO
OceanSaver, a leading global provider of class-approved, high capacity ballast water treatment (BWT) systems, today appointed Houtan Houshangi as interim Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Houshangi replaces Stein Foss who successfully developed and commercialized OceanSaver BWT system technology since the companyâs inception in 2003. Foss will still be associated with OceanSaver and will together with the interim CEO focus on ensuring a smooth transition of leadership and the search for and hiring of his replacement. âFoss has played a critical role in OceanSaver.
Next Generation BWT Technology Secures Six Ships
Ciner Shipping Industry & Trading, a subsidiary within Ciner Group, one of Turkeyâs growing commerce, industry and service conglomerates, has secured OceanSaver MARK II systems for two suezmax tankers at Chinaâs Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and four bulk carriers at SPP Shipyard in Korea. Twelve weeks ago OceanSaver informed the market about the launch of its next generation BWT Mark II system and goals to introduce better performing filtration technology, reduce installation cost and complexity for retrofit and newbuilding projects. âThe industry has responded very favourably to MARK II and OceanSaverâs high-end technology for critical ballast water treatment applications.
