De Nora Acquires Hyde Marine

De Nora said it has acquired Calgon Carbon Corporation's UV Technologies Division (CCUV), including the products, brands and assets of UV ballast water management systems (BWMS) manufacturer Hyde Marine as well as municipal and industrial water treatment brands RAYOX, SENTINEL and C3 SERIES UV.The acquisition was signed on June 7 and is expected to close on July 1, De Nora said.By combining De Nora BALPURE electrolytic disinfection (EC) BWMS and the Hyde Marine ultra-violet (UV) Hyde GUARDIAN BWMS, De Nora will offer both UV and EC BWMS over a full range of flows.

De Nora BALPURE BWTS Submits USCG Type-Approval Application

De Nora, a supplier of electrochlorination equipment, confirmed that submission for United States Coastguard (USCG) type approval for its BALPURE ballast water treatment system (BWTS) was made shortly after completion of testing late in 2017. Independently verified by Lloyd’s Register, the results of all shipboard, land-based, and environmental testing, plus documentation, engineering design and final drawings associated with De Nora BALPURE are with the USCG. Kyriacou to Lead De Nora's BWMS Unit

Electrochlorination equipment supplier De Nora announced that Dr. Stelios Kyriacou has been appointed as General Manager of its BALPURE Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) business unit. Dr. Kyriacou joins De Nora Water Technologies from Wärtsilä, where he managed the research, development, design and certification of the full Wärtsilä BWMS range. De Nora BWTS Concludes USCG Testing

De Nora announced that it has completed shipboard testing for its BALPURE ballast water treatment system (BWTS), and intends to make  its submission for United States Coast Guard (USCG) Type Approval by the end of 2017. The shipboard testing of  De Nora BALPURE was conducted on a US-flagged Aframax tanker operating in the west coast of the United States in the regulated waters of California and Alaska. The tanker is in normal trading and has been ballasting and deballasting with BALPURE system on a regular basis. The end of shipboard testing represents the conclusion of De Nora’s USCG testing, having already completed the land-based testing, engineering design and environmental testing elements of the submission.

De Nora Bags Repeat BWTS Order from OSG

Electrochlorination equipment supplier De Nora has received an order from tanker company Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) for its BALPURE ballast water treatment systems (BWTS). OSG will retrofit the proprietary slipstream electrochlorination BWTS on four 69,000 DWT chemical and oil product tankers within the first half of 2017. De Nora will supply its BALPURE BP3000-C system, which can treat up to 3,000 m3/h of ballast water, for installation on the Overseas Goldmar, Overseas Silvermar, Overseas Rubymar and Overseas Rosemar.

De Nora BWTS in Brokerage Agreement with MARCAS

Electrochemical technologies firm De Nora has announced a brokerage agreement with MARCAS, a buying group for the maritime industry. The deal means that MARCAS members representing close to 1,700 vessels can access aggregate purchasing deals with De Nora for its BALPURE ballast water treatment system (BWTS) and spare parts at a discount. MARCAS obtains the best value products and services for its members, with a commitment to price, quality, assured supply and delivery, and technical innovation. De Nora Retrofits Two BWS for OSG

De Nora announced a contract with Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) (NYSE MKT:OSG), one of the largest tanker companies in the world, to supply two ballast water management systems (BWMS). De Nora BALPURE systems will ensure that the Overseas Milos and Overseas Athens, both 50,000 DWT product/chemical tankers, will discharge ballast water that meets or surpasses the environmental discharge limits set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and United States Coast Guard (USCG). De Nora Wins Contract for BWTS Retrofits

De Nora, a supplier of equipment for seawater electrochlorination, said it has been awarded a contract to provide its BALPURE ballast water management system by one of North America’s major oil tanker operators. The BALPURE Twin BP3000-C systems, capable of treating ballast water flow rates up to 6,000m3/h,  will be retrofitted in five crude oil tankers ranging in size from 125,000 DWT to 141,740 DWT. The installations will take place from mid-2016 to 2018. BALPURE utilizes electrolytic disinfection technology to provide ballast water management. In addition to being IMO Type-Approved and USCG AMS-Certified, the system has been Bureau Veritas Type-Approved and ABS Design Assessed.

U.S. Coast Guard Accepts Nine BWTS as AMS

Followers of the Ballast Water Treatement System (BWTS) situation (ie. presumably anyone reading this publication) were heartened last month when the U.S Coast Guard announced its acceptance of nine BWTS as Alternate Management Systems (AMS), helping to finally bring some clarity to ship owners, yards and suppliers. On April 15, 2013, the USCG announced the acceptance of the ballast water treatment systems as AMS in compliance with the service’s March 2012 final rule for Standards for Living Organisms in Ships’ Ballast Water Discharged (SLOSBWD) in U.S. waters.

Severn Trent De Nora’s MARINER OMNIPURE® Series M55 Sewage Treatment System selected for use aboard LNG tanker. German ship operator Pronav has chosen the system for use aboard the “LNG Gemini”, a 72,472dwt LNG tanker. The M5508 model, which can treat black and gray water for up to 25 persons, will be installed aboard the vessel in late November 2012 when she is in Subic Bay, Philippines. Vessels generate sewage that can contain contaminants that have a detrimental effect on water quality and the overall marine environment.
