Valaris Set to Emerge from Bankruptcy as Reorganization Plan Approved

Offshore drilling company Valaris, the world's largest by fleet size, has received approval from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas of its prearranged plan of reorganization, and has agreed with Korea's Daewoo to delay deliveries of two newbuild drillships.The offshore driller filed for bankruptcy in August 2020, in a move to restructure its debt load and reduce debt by more than $6.5 billion.The company this week said that in addition to bankruptcy court confirmation, the plan received support from approximately 80% of the company's unsecured notes and bank lenders representing 100% of the company's credit facility claims.

Seadrill Seeks Bankruptcy Protection—Again

Head of Oil Trader Hin Leong Didn't Disclose $800 Mln Losses

The founder and director of Singapore oil-trading company Hin Leong Trading Pte Ltd (HLT) directed the firm not to disclose hundreds of millions of dollars in losses over several years, he said in a court filing reviewed by Reuters.The affidavit signed by Lim Oon Kuin, a Singaporean in his 70s widely known as O.K. Weatherford to File for Bankruptcy

Irish-domiciled multinational oil and natural gas service company Weatherford International has entered into an agreement with its top creditors that will allow the company to file for a "prepackaged" Chapter 11 bankruptcy - after more than four years without making a profit.Weatherford expects to implement the Restructuring Agreement through a "pre-packaged" Chapter 11 process and expects to file U.S. chapter 11 and Irish examinership proceedings. Odfjell Drilling buys “Deepsea Nordkapp”

Odfjell Drilling announced that Aker BP has today awarded Odfjell Drilling a 2 year firm drilling contract with 1+1 year optional periods. The day rates for the drilling contract will be based on market terms to be determined prior to commencement of drilling operations. In addition to the market linked day rate, a performance bonus as agreed in the alliance agreement with Aker BP, as announced on 21 November 2017, will apply. Seadrill, Creditors Reach Joint Restructuring Deal

Shipping tycoon John Fredriksen has reached an agreement with a majority of creditors over a restructuring plan for oil rig firm Seadrill, according to U.S. court documents on Monday. The company, once the world's largest offshore driller by market value, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with debt and liabilities of over $10 billion last September after a sharp drop in oil prices in 2014 cut demand for rigs. "It's good for all parties that Seadrill comes out of an expensive and time-consuming process," said Frederik Lunde, head of research at brokerage Carnegie.

Seadrill Postpones Court Hearing for Restructuring Talks

Drilling rig company Seadrill said in a court filing it postponed an initial hearing on its restructuring plan to Feb. 7, which sources told Reuters will give the company more time to consider alternative restructuring plans. Once the largest drilling rig operator by market value, Seadrill filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas on Sept. 12 after being hit hard by cutbacks in oil company investment following a steep drop in crude prices. Wednesday's court filing also said the deadline for objecting to Seadrill's plan had been extended to Feb.

Seadrill Limited, one of the world’s largest offshore drilling companies, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection at the Southern District Texas court, Reuters reported. Rickmers Maritime Gets Breathing Space

Marine transport company Rickmers Maritime has been offered a credit facility worth USD 260 million in order to cover bank debt. The carrier is also considering converting its debt to bonds worth more than USD 70 million as part of an ongoing restructuring of the listed company's debt burden. Rickmers Maritime received an offer from HSH Syndicate for a restructured secured amortising term loan facility of up to US$260.2 million, says a report in Singapore Business Review. This is to refinance the company’s outstanding debt under existing facilities granted by its lenders. Juicy Yields on Energy Bonds Attracting PE Firms

Crude price volatility may not have completely closed the funding doors for US high-yield energy companies as private equity firms and new funds prepare to snap up juicy yields on offer after a recent slump in the sector's bonds. In a likely sign of things to come, GSO Capital Partners, the alternative asset manager owned by Blackstone, last week deployed cash by providing a large order for CrownRock's US$350m high-yield bond - the first such E&P offering in months. The move came after Blackstone President Tony James said last month it has US$10bn in equity and debt capital available for energy investment opportunities. GSO is now raising a new fund solely for energy, expected to be US$2bn, a source familiar with the matter said.

General Maritime Announces Agreement With Creditors

New York - General Maritime Corporation announced that it had reached an agreement on a modified plan of reorganization with the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. and their investment entities and holders of more than 40 percent of the Company's Senior Notes. The Modified Plan is also supported by 66-2/3 percent of the Company's key senior lenders, including its bank group, led by Nordea Bank Finland plc., New York Branch as administrative agent. The Modified Plan will allow for a consensual reorganization of the Company, substantially deleverage the Company's balance sheet, provide a greater recovery to unsecured creditors, and position the Company to be a financially stronger, competitive global enterprise.

TBS to Deleverage Balance Sheet; Refresh Fleet

TBS International plc (NASDAQ: TBSI) has reached agreements with its bank lenders on terms to reduce its leverage and refresh its fleet. As part of these agreements, TBS and the syndicates led by Bank of America and DVB Group Merchant Bank have agreed on terms to restructure outstanding indebtedness that contemplate exchanging existing senior debt for new senior debt and equity and the refreshing of the TBS fleet by long-term charters of modern tweendeckers and bulk carriers. These terms provide for payment in full of the amounts owed to the Bank of America and DVB syndicates over a significantly extended maturity period, the continued business operations of TBS under current management and the same quality of Five Star service that TBS's customers have always experienced.

Danaos Completes Comprehensive Financing Plan

Danaos Corporation (NYSE: DAC), international owner of containerships, announced the formal completion of its previously announced Comprehensive Financing Plan, which fully funds Danaos’s current newbuilding program, comprised of 13 additional containerships aggregating 129,250 TEUs with scheduled deliveries up to mid 2012. The Plan provides for new financing of $818 million including $203 million from an Export-Import Bank of China led consortium, $190 million of vendor finance and $425 million from a consortium comprising of 14 of its existing bank lenders. Repayment schedules, interest rate margin and covenants have been reset and harmonized with this new structure and provide a competitive and solid financing package until end of 2018.

Moody's Investors Service downgraded to Ca from Caa2 the rating for the Euro 125 million senior notes of Cammell Laird Holdings plc (CLH) following the company's announcement of a strategic review of its operations and financial structure which may lead to a restructuring of the notes. Trico Marine Services Receives Notice of Default and Guarantee Demand

Trico Marine Services, Inc. announced the issuance of a notice of default and guarantee demand by Bear Stearns Corporate Lending Inc. ("Bear Stearns"). Bear Stearns is an administrative agent under the $55 million term loan (the "Term Loan") issued by a group of bank lenders to Trico's two primary domestic subsidiaries in February 2004. The Company is a guarantor of its subsidiaries' obligations under certain provisions of the Term Loan. Bear Stearns' notice of default and guarantee demand was issued on the basis of an earlier default arising from the Company's non-payment of interest due on its $250 million 8.875% Senior Notes due 2012 in June 2004.
