Royal Caribbean Group announced to has tapped Bert Hernandez to succeed Barbara Muckermann as president of its Silversea brand.Most recently serving as senior vice president, international, Hernandez has been with the Royal Caribbean Group for the past 20 years. Meyer Werft Lays Keel for Second Silversea Fuel Cell Cruise Ship

Silversea Cruises has celebrated the keel laying of the cruise ship Silver Ray at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.The 155-foot, 728-guest Silver Ray is the second ship in Silversea’s Nova class and is expected to enter service in summer 2024, following sister ship Silver Nova which is expected to enter service in summer 2023.The Nova-class ships will be fitted with dual-fuel LNG engines, energy storage and a 4MW fuel cell system. Silversea Cruises Names Barbara Muckermann President & CEO

Barbara Muckermann, currently chief commercial officer at Silversea Cruises, will become the company’s next president and CEO, and will join parent company Royal Caribbean Group’s executive committee, effective January 1.Muckermann will succeed Roberto Martinoli, who will assume the role of senior advisor to Royal Caribbean Group president and CEO Jason Liberty.She becomes the second woman to lead one of Royal Caribbean Group’s three wholly-owned brands, and joins Celebrity Cruises president and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, and Royal Caribbean International president and CEO Michael Bayley.

Vietnam Turns Away Cruise Ship Over Coronavirus Fears

Health authorities in the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh want to stop a Bahamas-flagged cruise ship with Italians on board from docking at the economic hub on Friday over coronavirus concerns, state media reported.The Health Department on Thursday advised the People's Committee of the city not to allow passengers on the cruise liner, Silver Spirit, to disembark, the Tuoi Tre newspaper said.The department said the move is aimed at "limiting the intrusion of disease into the city"…

Silversea Appoints VP Corporate Communications

Silversea Cruises' CEO Albert Peter announced the appointment of Barbara Muckermann to the newly created position of vice president, corporate communications. The communications division will now encompass public relations, guest relations and the line's past guest program, the Venetian Society. our already strong presence in the critically important North American market, ensuring the continuity of the Silversea message as we continue to expand our presence worldwide," stated Peter. Muckermann has an extensive background in communications and the international maritime industry in particular. During her career she has worked in France and Italy and handled the public relations activities for several European shipping and consumer accounts such as UMS Generali Marine and RINA.

Silversea Names Ball Director of Public Relations

Silversea Cruises announced today that Brad Ball has been named Director of Public Relations. Ball will oversee the ultra-luxury line's worldwide public relations efforts and report to Barbara Muckermann, Silversea's Vice President of Corporate Communications. Brad Ball brings over 10 years of cruise experience to his new position at Silversea. He was previously employed at Renaissance Cruises as director of publicity and media relations. Ball joined Silversea three months ago as a public relations consultant for the company. Brad Ball assumes all responsibilities formerly handled by Dale Dibello-Nicholson, who has accepted a position as Director of Public Relations for the American Heart Association, South Florida Region.
