Oceanwide Acquires Subsidiary of Barber International
Oceanwide, the leading international employment agency in the maritime field, announced today the acquisition of Norsk Bemanning AS from Barber Ship Management, a company within the Barber Group. With this acquisition OceanWide adds another subsidiary office to its already fast network of worldwide employment offices. The new subsidiary will operate under the name Oceanwide Norway AS. Norsk Bemanning is the crewing company of Barber Ship Management for their pool of Norwegian Officers. The total crew managed by Norsk Bemanning covers about 400 people. The existing office staff of 9 people will be transferred to Oceanwide Norway and the crew will remain employed by Barber Ship Management.The crew sails on board almost every type and size of vessel within the Barber Group…
Wilhelmsen Acquires Unitor
Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA (WW) reached agreement to acquire 90.4 per cent of the shares in Norway's Unitor group. This acquisition accords with WW's strategy of developing its Wilhelmsen Maritime Services (WMS) subsidiary into a leading global player in the maritime services sector. The deal has been concluded with Unitor's principal shareholders - Umoe Industri AS, the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme Fund and Odin Forvaltning. Their holdings corresponds to 90.4 percent of the outstanding shares in the company, and the agreed price is $11.36 (NOK 73.50) per share. This deal allows WW to secure the rest of the Unitor shares. The total purchase price for all the stock will be just over $2.2 billion (NOK 1.4 billion).
BASS To Demonstrate, Hold Seminar at Nor-Shipping
BASS will be exhibiting at Nor-Shipping 2003 from June 3-6, 2003, demonstrating the benefits of BASS Software at their stand located at D:4-26. During the same week, Barber International / BASS will be providing a seminar on the ISPS Code & Security on June 4 from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon, at Arena Hotel next, located next door to Nor-shipping. The Barber Security Seminar aims to present the implications of the new security policy, with sharing of experience of vessels calling US ports, assessments, planning and training, and crew related aspects on security and training. BASS is also giving a safety software presentation at this seminar. In addition, the BASS Europe User Conference 2003 is the company’s main event, which will be held from June 2-3, 2003 in Lysaker, Norway.
