WCA Announces Leadership Changes
Dan March has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the independent forwarder network WCA, with founder David Yokeum becoming Chairman, and Ram Menen joining a new global Supervisory Board. Based in London, March, who has been WCA Communications Director for over five years, will oversee the day-to-day operations and work closely with Yokeum and the new non-executive Supervisory Board – comprising Eric Fady, Philip Bilney, and Jim Barnhart, as well as Menen. Yokeum, who founded WCA in 1998, will remain actively involved in overseeing the direction and strategy of the company.
Barnhart to Purchase Hite Crane & Rigging
Barnhart says it has reached a definitive agreement to purchase Hite Crane and Rigging, who provide hoisting and rigging services throughout the Inland Empire and Pacific Northwest with cranes from 10 to 440 ton, as well as heavy transport and specialized rigging equipment. “Hite Crane & Rigging has a strong, proud history of doing exceptional work.” said Alan Barnhart, CEO of Barnhart. “Since 1969 Hite has been delivering dependable innovative solutions for their customers’ heavy lifting and heavy transportation needs. USACE Completes Dredge Hurley Extension
The Corps of Engineers Memphis District Ensley Engineer Yard (EEY), in partnership with the Corps of Engineers Marine Design Center (MDC) in Philadelphia, Pa., completed the lengthening of the Dredge Hurley by 48-feet. The project increased the dredge’s length from 305 to 353 feet, making it one of the largest vessels on the river and increased the dredge’s dredging depth from 40 to a maximum of 75 feet. Port of Mobile New 900 Ton Crane
Barnhart Crane & Rigging Company began providing heavy lift barge crane services to cargo customers at the Port of Mobile. In the company’s first lift, the new 900T heavy lift crane transloaded to barge a 102 metric ton down coiler machine from Grieg Star Shipping’s vessel the M/V Star Grip. The lift operation took place at the Alabama State Port Authority’s Pier 2 terminal. Stevedore services were provided by CSA Stevedoring and Nord-Sud Shipping Inc., served as the vessel agent.
